webfact Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Police Rule Out Politics in Canvasser Murder Chiang Rai police believe yesterday's murder of a political party's canvasser is not related to the upcoming election but stemmed from a business conflict. Police Major General Songtham Alapard, Chiang Rai provincial police commander, said police are investigating the murder of Nimit Kaewkumpol, a canvasser of Chart Thai Pattana election candidate Pradit Pattaraprasit. Nimit was shot dead at a rice trade fair in Chiang Rai Province. Police have already issued an arrest warrant for Pramote Kongthong, who has been identified by witnesses as the gunman. It is believed that the motive of the murder is not politics but stemmed from the victim's rice business in Mae Chan District. -- Tan Network 2011-05-30
