May 30, 201114 yr Police Rule Out Politics in Canvasser Murder Chiang Rai police believe yesterday's murder of a political party's canvasser is not related to the upcoming election but stemmed from a business conflict. Police Major General Songtham Alapard, Chiang Rai provincial police commander, said police are investigating the murder of Nimit Kaewkumpol, a canvasser of Chart Thai Pattana election candidate Pradit Pattaraprasit. Nimit was shot dead at a rice trade fair in Chiang Rai Province. Police have already issued an arrest warrant for Pramote Kongthong, who has been identified by witnesses as the gunman.
