Police Bust Drugs, Arms in Chiang Rai, Lamphun

Chiang Rai Police have seized 300,000 methamphetamine pills from a pick-up truck as they were being delivered to a dealer in Phayao Province.

Meanwhile, Lamphun Police arrested an arms dealer and confiscated assorted firearms and ammunition.

Commander of the Provincial Police Region 5, Police Lieutenant General Chaiya Siriamphankul announced the confiscation of 300,000 methamphetamine pills in Chiang Rai Province and an arms bust in Lamphun in which police arrested a suspect who had previously been arrested for killing an officer.

On Wednesday, Mae Lao Police found some 300,000 methamphetamine pills hidden in the bed of a pick-up truck and arrested 50 year old driver Somchai Apipreechacharn.

The truck ran through a police checkpoint on Baan Hua Tung – Baan Pha Bong Road in Chiang Rai's Dongmada Sub-district before the driver lost control and swerved into a roadside ditch.

Police said the drugs were being delivered to a dealer in Mae Ta Sub-district in Phayao Province.

In a separate incident, Police arrested Surapong Jampatee at the Lamphun provincial bus terminal and seized an M16 rifle, 20 22-millimeter bullets, 20 nine-millimeter bullets, two barrel extensions, and a silencer.

Surapong had previously been arrested for killing Police Sergeant Pat Thansom, a chief investigator at the Lamphun Police in 2006.

Arrested for killing a Police Sgt. in 2006 and was let out to continue his crime eh! how much did he pay??

I'm sure glad they didn't find any illegal legs and heads in those raids. That would have been a terrible headline.
