How To Connect Safe-T-Cut ?

Featured Replies

I have this in my house - I think its an RCBO ? A few questions please

- does it look good to use (not sure of the age) ? The test switch does work

- how should it be wired up - should the L and N cables from the meter run into this SafeT-Cut box and then out to the Main Switch on the Distribution Board ?

- does the 'Direct' setting mean the sensitivity (and RCBO) is bypassed ?

Thank you.

If the 'Test' button works the the unit is likely serviceable.

The usual way is Meter => Safe-T-Cut => Distribution Board

Yes, 'Direct' means no earth leakage protection (over-current is still active).

Thanks. Could one STCut box be used to cover 2 Distribution Boards or is it strictly 1 RCBO per Board?

There is no reason why one unit should not cover all boards connected to a single meter.

Of course you need to ensure the loading is within its rating and remember that a single ground fault will take out all your power.

That is a newer model than what I have (original 1977 I believe) and mine is working fine. Anything downstream will be covered but if you have a panel with a newer unit just wire from the input (meter side) to power that to keep separate and not lose everything in one fault. I have four subpanels and two are protected so from input side to them
