Do I Need An 9000Btu Or 12000Btu Air Con?

Featured Replies

I am looking for an air con for the bedroom on the first floor. The room is about 16.5 sq M, height is about a a shade less than 3M. I get the sun on the house from about 9am to 4pm. I will only use the unit at night with a temperature around 22-25C. The safe bet is the 12000btu but with low usuage would the 9000btu do the job anf if so what make is recommended, I am being shown Mitsubishi or if I want to save money Samsung. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

My bedroom is 20 sq/mtr and a 9,000 bthu air con. Switched on in a hot room at 10 oclock it cools to 27C in 10 mins.

So I would'nt think a 14,000 unit would be nessesary.

You will find that the smaller units are 2-3000 baht cheaper as well.

Thanks that is what I was thinking, not bothered about an inverter but are Mitsubisho worth paying a bit extra over a Samsung?

if you buy to large a unit it will shut down when the temperature is at the set level, but before the humidity has been extracted sufficiently. Mitsubishi at the moment I think.

Our bedroom is 17 sq M and we have a Panasonic 13,000 btu Inverter. Cost about 18,000 BHT last year. Running overnight 9pm 'till 8 am. Total house electric consumption at the moment (very hot) about 10 to 12 units per day.

I don't know about Samsung but have had many Mitsubishi and very happy with all sizes. For you, the 9K is more than enough.
