craigt3365 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I happen to love BIBIMBAP and for some reason getting really good BIBAMBAP isn't easy in Pattaya, even with its wealth of decent Korean restaurants. I have also never seen a specialist BIBAMBAP restaurant before. I have no idea of its opening date but the sign is up. Soon after it does open, I will surely try it. Any updates on this? I had it once I was in Bangkok and it was actually surprisingly good. I've since tried to locate the same in Pattaya without luck. That international food court facing the ocean in Central Festival had it last time I ate there. That was about a year ago. Pretty good. Even better with the ocean view.
smedly Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 ok sorry if this has been mentioned before and it's not often I post here but I thought it was worth the effort to give a heads up about a food spot that in my opinion deserves a mention here Limited menu which is not a bad thing, has superb fish and chips (best I've had in Pattaya in 9 years) other dishes including an absolutely astounding creamy chicken dish (sorry can't remember the name but easy to spot) The guy that owns it (Liam) has been a chef all his life and obviously takes pride in what he does, he has worked in some top hotels here in Pattaya and decided to branch out on his own, he's got his business model right in my opinion - extremely good food but not at silly prices, a fish supper will cost you 100baht so work it out for yourself I am in no way connected to this guy or his business but the food is terrific which is why I felt the need to mention it here OK how stupid is this - I have never looked at the name but if you want to try it out it is on Soi New Plaza right opposite Janes bar if looking to the sea on the right, give it a try especially if you're on your way home and fancy some grub as at the moment he's open late - maybe 2am Don't miss this gem - I've tried to talk him into doing deliveries so that might be a possibility going forward regards 2
Jingthing Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 OK, the Bibimbab place I have been waiting for is indeed NOW OPEN. However, it's not what I had hoped for. The concept is mass marketing Korean "style" food mostly for the THAI market. Perhaps something like Fuji is for Japanese food for the THAI market. It's not hard core Korean food. You might want to take your Thais there. That's all I'm going to say about it. http://tastythailand.com/the-bibimbab-in-bangkok-thailand-tasteless-and-disappointing/ Next ... 1
brummiebob Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 even Bibimbap at 'Sukishi' the Korean restaurant by the same chain as 'Fuji' is better than that
Jingthing Posted September 28, 2013 Author Posted September 28, 2013 It's really not a bad place for people who like that kind of corporate style food. Personally, for Korean, I want hard core Korean. Not through a Thai/corporate filter. Their menu actually is quite impressive in the variety offered.

Food fine IMO, friendly owner and staff. The name of the place is Fryday/s, open from 2.00 PM - 2.00 AM according to the sign. I`d use it again and thanks for mentioning it.
BugJackBaron Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Sam's Mexican Diner inside Jomtien Complex is now doing breakfast and lunch. It include a free refill of coffee which is a nice touch. American and English breakfasts are offered as well as French Toast and Bagels with cream cheese. Prices are reasonable. I ordered the American breakfast and was quite pleased. There is also a something of a crowd there in the morning so the atmosphere is good.

I also dislike crowds so will give the place a miss for that reason too.
BugJackBaron Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Not sure about that. You could probably order the usual stuff like tacos but i don't think they have a "breakfast taco" - whatever that may be. The crowd aren't so bad and mostly sit outside.
Jingthing Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 What time is Sams open for breakfast ? http://samsmexican.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9&Itemid=11 8 AM, closed Sundays, according to their website.
bender92 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I had an excellent pancake at Lee's Diner, Soi Diana, across from Areca Lodge. Comes with banana, pineapple, watermelon slices and honey. Big pancake, very thick yet light and delicious. It is 90 baht, and 2 sausages are 30 baht, hot tea 30 baht. They also have pizza, Thai food, western food. The broccoli and shrimp looks good but I have not tried anything but breakfast 3 times. They are open 24 hours, very friendly staff.

That pancake is an abomination! A proper pancake is thin, not thick, and comes in either a short-stack or regular stack. They can also be "dollar" size or regular and must be served with butter and syrup (preferably real maple). Proper American bacon, a couple fried eggs, and hash-browns or home-fry potatoes completes the dish 1
Jingthing Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Major Falafel Find! No, this isn't the best falafel I've ever had, but the best I've had in Pattaya. Basically this is STREET FOOD, Israeli style. Offerings: Falafel in Pita w/ chopped veg, hot sauce if you want, tahini sauce on the side FRIED FRESH TO ORDER! Generous serving, only 70 baht Also on offer, Chicken schnitzel at 99 baht and also a hamburger. Yes, Chicken schnitzel is very popular Israeli food. This place ain't the Ritz, folks. It's a street stand. Aristocrats need not attend. There is space to sit but you might want to take away. Location, very close the the well known THE PLACE Israeli restaurant on Soi Boukaow (also recommended by me earlier on this thread). So find THE PLACE and there's a soi roughly opposite THE PLACE, look down the soi and you should see a sign with Hebrew writing. That's it. BTW, THE PLACE does not do falafel. Here is the location of The Place. From there you should be able to locate the street food stand: https://foursquare.com/v/the-place--israeli-restaurant/4ef33be09a52fadb3461eb25 1
Jingthing Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 To mark the renewed hope of a meaningful nuclear agreement between Iran and various other nations, I hereby present a hit and run version of Pattaya Iranian Restaurant Update! More like a SHAKEOUT! A surprising number of CLOSURES. Nayeb Iranian restaurant (great place) In front of Beverly Plaza Hotel, South Pattaya Now appears shut down Has been dark for some weeks now. If it is really shut, a big loss. The long running PARS restaurant further south on the same block is visibly picking up new business due to the closure. Never saw it so crowded. Said Iranian restaurant 2nd road at Klang across from Tops Had some good dishes such a lima bean rice Definitely CLOSED Iranian buffet restaurant near the famous Boat Thai and Euro restaurant on 2nd road Buffet still on. Now a more extensive (and low priced) a la carte menu. Gormeh Sabzi no longer offered on the buffet as it used to be. Another Iranian place further north from the buffet roughly across from Royal Garden ... CLOSED. Iranian restaurant across from Central Pattaya Beach Mall -- Now a Thai seafood restaurant. There he wrote! Some Iranian food teasers. Nothing this good in Pattaya I'm afraid:

Does Patts get allot of Iranian visitors?I'm a big fan of middle eastern food in general. Have you tried the newish Lebanese Palace on 3rd Road in the developing Arab Quarter there as it curves around towards Bali Hai pier area? Any comments to share if tried? Also, I don't think I've seen you comment on the Armenian resto on east side of Naklua Road just up from the dolphin roundabout. Do you know about it and have you tried it? A near relative of middle eastern food.

Yes lots of Iranians in town but maybe hit by their economy this year indicated by the shakeout.Persian food is distinctive from Arabic food. Aware of that Lebanese place. Not tried. Have mentioned that chain of Armenian places before. No further comment. Sent from my GT-S5360B using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
ThaiBob Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The Momento formerly at Coco's Resort, down the hill from the Mata Hari and Cafe de Amis, has moved to their new location just off Theprasit. Just 100 meters off Thaprasit Soi 8 and marked with a big sign. It's new, has lots of parking and retains the old menu, prices. Big portions, open air, nice decor, no a/c but well ventilated. French owned and many french diners although the menu is international. Recommended.
Jingthing Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 News about a NEW British style "Chinese" restaurant in case you missed it on another thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/687493-foomanlou-major-new-authentic-regional-chinese-restaurant-opens-in-central-pattaya/?p=7137822 Even though this style isn't my favorite, it's on my list for a try out.
Jingthing Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 OK I did try the new British Chinese joint. No comment that I could make here. NEWS FLASH grand opening major new restaurant tomorrow PRIMOS accross from Royal Garden Mall. Trendy modern place. Interesting ambitious but not overly large choice menu. Was told by staff the food was Euro / Slovenian. Moderate prices. Some really different dishes. Not the same old same old. From signage outside you would think Italian or Greek. Wish them success. Bananas & sausages together? Pass the sick bag!
thaiflyer1 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 OK I did try the new British Chinese joint. No comment that I could make here. Friend of mine also tried it Wednesday night..........he had the sweet and sour and one more dish..................he was not impressed... I was going to try it myself just to confirm his findings but Jingthings comments have put paid to that..........
Jingthing Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 To be clear all I said was: NO COMMENT.
seasia Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Pizza & Pasta That`s the name of the restaurant, on soi arunothai(sp) on the soi opposite Big C extra Plain name, plain restaurant, open air Low prices, service efficient. Pizzas, pastas and a few other choices, just about enough. I went with a friend, wasn`t overly hungry so each had a small pizza ( 8 " ), 1/4 carafe of wine( only house wine on offer) and a bottle of water. Bill was sub 400 baht, food was worth more.IMO Not a candidate for being the best but a long way from being the worst, in fact paid more than double for a similar meal elsewhere earlier in the week that wasn`t fit for a soi dog. opens 6.00 PM, closes 12.00 but last orders about 11.00 PM. Above average in quality whilst being good value. 1st ever visit, better than what I thought it would be and I`d go back.
frodo77 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 The Lebanese Palace Restaurant on 3rd road is excellent. You can bring your own wine with no corkage charges. 1
In Search of Space Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 And the first four answers are already comments Something I found : restaurant Split in Soi Chayapruek. According to the owner the only "Yugo" in Thailand. The owner is from Yougoslavia, lived then 20 years in Germany where he was running several restaurants and came to Thailand a couple of years ago. We had the grill platter. Not bad, maybe a tad too salty. Djuvec rice, cevapcici, all you would expect, including the yulicka after. The platter is 490 Baht, feeds two people and a three year old. uploadfromtaptalk1356740850761.jpg Sent from my GT-N7000 using Thaivisa Connect App Mimosa (Italian) on Soi Chayapruek is also good, especially Pizza
Jingthing Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 The Lebanese Palace Restaurant on 3rd road is excellent. You can bring your own wine with no corkage charges. Is that a second location of the Lebanese place at Central Mall (beach side w/ a view), or not?
frodo77 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 They have moved from that location to 3rd road.
Jingthing Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 They have moved from that location to 3rd road. Now I'm even more confused. The Lebanese place I referred to at Central Mall still exists at least the last time I checked which was recently.
frodo77 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 If the place in Central still exists, it will be a different owner now. I spoke with the owner (one of 2 brothers) at 3rd road and he confirmed they had moved from Central.
