I'm probably going with Sport365 for as long as it lasts but as a technology person with a tech company the thought occurred to me that this forum may have enough clout on this to warrant a letter to CTH outlining what an English speaking person requires from their premiership coverage? They may not have anyone there who has a clue what folks like us want. There's loads of hints on improving the service here.

I might just be naive to expect someone at a Thai company to listen to ferang feedback though. They have a boatload of cash at stake though so sent to the right person it might make a difference in the long run. If not then maybe a letter to one of the major papers.

Just a suggestion any road.

Alfie Conn - Not sure why you are putting words in my mouth like 'Rome wasn't built in a day' I've never said that I expected it all to be perfect, far from it....but they have had months to prepare and I would have expected them to get the basics right like following day repeats for example. I'm not sure why you feel that is being too demanding for a paying customer?

Saving a little bit of money is clearly more important to some than quality programming.

Where was the repeat of last nights game this morning? They can't even get something as simple as that right for their new customers. I want to watch the Chelse game tomorrow but won't be able to unless I stay up to an unearthly hour..

I'm not critisising them just for the hell of it...but there is no programme schedule available, no english punditry, no english only audio on the re-runs, if you are lucky to catch one...no preview or review shows, etc....I would happily pay the extra for True who had all of the above plus a whole range of other sports...the only one positive (for me anyhow) is that CTH have SKY news...

Defend CTH all you like, but it is poor IMO.

I think it would be quite simple to repeat the games the next day and like you I wonder why they are not doing it?

I think this question cuts to the chase. Does CTH plan to show repeat games in English on a coherent basis like True ? Given the many early morning games, the next day repeats in English would be a must for me. And the logical next question would be are they going to provide anything else other than the games live and in English ? The pundits, etc. Time will tell if they are planning on a more professional approach and haven't arrived there yet, or if they have no plan to provide anything but the bare essentials.

I'm hoping BangkokBlue can fill us in. But I suspect no news from him might be bad news.

When the clocks change, sometimes the late evening games are too late for me! biggrin.png

CTH have bought the rights to show all EPL games and that's exactly what they are doing, in all fairness......not that I'm impressed, just saying.

If we get repeats like True it will be a nice bonus, but will John Dykes et al, be an 'add on' I wonder?

I agree, that extra hour seems to make a lot of difference.

No, they can't possibly start charging more money mid-stream when so many have paid up for it, would be outrageous and would be very suprised if they did that.

I can remember when True started it's coverage.
It was not very good either.
I remember a West Ham game with the opening 20 minutes missing.
At least CTH only missed 5 minutes.

Also during last season the 2 HD channels were usually reserved for the so called big teams.
I watched most of WHU matches on True Sport 7 or something else with fuzzy vision.
Now I should be able to watch my team on HD every time.
So for me a far superior product at a better price.
And if I had more faith in my team I would pay the 3 years up front. laugh.png

I would have thought that the repeat issue will get sorted.
It does not make any sense not to.

But we are getting what they promised....all 360 EPL games live.

I'm sort of doubting that their bid included anything other than that.

Your comparing a company (True) that has been running for 24 years with a company (CTH) that has been running for 6 months, hardly like for like.

Football wise they will be ahead due to having all HD channels, plus the split screen channel once they get PLTV at the end of September smile.png

There you go again, putting words into my mouth...where in the above have I even mentioned True?? I said that they should be able to play the repeats without too many problems.

You're weird.

you've been praising True all day long, in case you have forgotten :

It's not all about saving a little money for everyone you know....I would much rather pay the extra and have True back, all day long....there's an old saying 'you get what you pay for' and that is most definitely apt here...

Sure, I was bringing True into the story in other posts. CTH have taken the football off True, so it is perfectly normal to make comparisons, surely?

If you read through my posts I've questioned why they can't get the replays right the following day and in English, I do not believe that critisism is unfair or demanding too much, it is pretty basic stuff IMO for a company that have had months to prepare. You clearly think don't it is as you refuse to critisize CTH in any shape or form and think I am being harsh, so let's just agree to disagree.

The repeats seem better than True to me. They're repeating over and over again in the evening which suits me because I don't watch TV in the morning. Haven't seen the Man City game yet although I've been looking for it. True had repeats at very obscure times and for the rest of day had men rolling around in lycra panties and Thais chatting and other things of no interest.

I don't think anyone is refusing to criticize CTH or thinks they have got off to a perfect start, it's just that 1)people appreciate it is very early days for them 2)they are happy with having made a fairly substantial saving of their monthly subscription outgoings 3)they remember how things were with True, to a greater degree in the early years when basically all you got was the game (sometimes not in its entirety) and that was it, no other English football shows whatsoever... but also in the more recent years of True, when yes, HD was introduced, but only on select games.

If this was the same price as True people here would be going loopy, the fact that it is cheaper is appeazing people.

As I have said many times already I appreciate it is early but repeating a night time game in the morning and having a tv schedule should be things that should already be in place, I don't think that is asking for too much.

Mods ....any merit in making CTH programming a pinned topic so we dont have to search all over the forum. I'm sure until CTH gets settled down it would be a practical and worthwhile solution which everyone could have some imput into.

Sticky here Sparkles.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/662073-cth-useful-info-and-links/

If we could use this thread for conversations etc and the other purely for links and info, I think that would be beneficial. wai.gif

So am I more likely to hear about any "improvements" to the CTH service on this thread or the sticky one?

I was surprised to watch the Man U v Swansea game on True Ch 119.

I would have thought that although True have the Man U club channel .broadcasting this seasons games would be in breach of the CTH monopoly.

If not, then if True buy the other top clubs programs.all the top EPL games would be shown, albeit 24 hours later.

Would't think CTH would be very happy !.

I hope you are not critisizing. That's not allowed around here.

Give over Pat. There are hundreds of posts criticizing CTH in this thread and you are allowed to criticize where you see fit. But it's a forum, so if you post a criticism, expect someone with a different view or experience to respond.

Great! If they do the same in reverse when they re-run the Arsenal Villa game, I'll imagine it's live and the Arse have a new Sky Blue Kit.

That way I'll get to see the Gooners actually win a game.

Reruns. Teething problems over double dubbed commentary seem to have been solved. Very frustrating as I still have not seen the Man City game due to unreliable published schedule.

Right now they are showing a rerun of the Norwich game as follows:

Stadium 2 . Ch132. In English. You need to press the green button. The Thai commentary is available as the alternative. Picture quality v good, audio quality v.good.

The TV guide shows Man City game coming imminently on Stadium 1. Ch131. Lets see.

Good to see they have sorted that out. Saying that, I could never sit and watch a whole game again if I already know the score, alas I very rarely watch a re-run unless it is a game the following morning from the night before and I don't know the score.

Let's see if tonights game is shown again in the morning. My advice to anyone who really wants to see it is stay up, or get up.

Spoke too soon, earlier they showed the Arsenal game. No Man City. On Stadium 4 they are showing last years Utd v City.

I am very happy we have CTH, and EPL so I will not bash them.....but they do need a British Rep on their team to act as a liaison...... To sort out the gripes. BB any thoughts on this? I have time on my hands

We haven't heard from BB in a few days. Previously he would provide us with the good CTH news after checking with his sources, contacting CTH, etc. My concern is that he's not receiving the good news he used to receive, thus no news is bad news.

OTOH maybe he's on holiday or something.

CTH obviously have some work to do with regards its broadcast of reruns, but True were far from perfect on that score either. For some unfathomable reason they always used to chop about 20 minutes out of every game. If I watch a rerun it's because I missed it live, and if I missed it live, I want to watch the entire game.

The season before the last one they showed the game within a 90 minute time slot, it had a small break at ht then the programme finishing say 5 minutes before the hour, so yes they chopped around 15-20 mins from the game. Last season the programme stretched to 2 hours so they showed all the game and had an annoying long break at HT...I much preferred it when they did it all in 90 mins, it's a replayed game for heavens sakes....not that it matters now of course.
