Where Is The Immigration Office In Bkk For Visa Extensions?

Featured Replies

Hello all, I need to apply for a 7 days visa ext, but I don't know how to do this, especially since it's songkran now. Can this be done at the airport at all? or do I have to go in to the office? all the info in the website is too confusing, and no contact numbers are posted either.. :(

Almost certainly it will be I would guess. I don't know that there are facilities for anyone other than arriving passengers at the airport but it might be worth checking, your only other option of course is to overstay and pay the fine after the holiday, can you do a border run to say Cambodia over the wekend.

AGAIN TV did it: giving old info dating from 3-4 years ago and NOW ONLY applying to ASEAN (think Burmese etc.)

ALL Govt offices are -no need to even ask- closed for the extended Songkran hols.

The BIG govt. office is at Chaeng wattana (think direction don Muang airpt) and mentioned here at least 12+ times now. CanNOT do at airport-anymore-unless you fancy paying the overstay fees per day and get a big red note to that effect in your passpt.

There is a special and enormous visa/overstay thread

So Soi Suanplu is now only for ASEAN, my bad!

Also, I would have thought the overstay, given that it is a holiday, would have been a viable option, am surprised it's not.

Immigration is at Cheang Wattana (spelling) Rangsit. There is no 7 day and extension but they give 7 days to leave the country. Now closed and re open 17th

what do you mean no 7 day extension? Last time I did it, they readjusted the leave date stamp with an additional 7 days. To me that is an extension.

It is not an extension, but a 7 day period in which they review your application for an extension of stay, which at the end is denied. It is more an administrative trick to give you an extra 7 days.

Ok cool, and in BKK I can only receive this from the Immigration at Cheang Wattana (spelling) Rangsit.?? anyone know when it reopens, will they take into consideration Songkran holidays? as my last day to leave is on the 14th... :(

Re opens 17th

thanks.. is it ok to do this anytime within the 7 day period?

Lopbyri3 already gave you a map for the Bangkok immigration office. In case it should be helpful to you, here is the location on Google Maps:

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=214923170432669428134.000465f03d84d91df360b&msa=0&ll=17.434511,101.074219&spn=5.260106,7.866211&iwloc=000467e35a8ea46c4deab

Generally, an application for extension of stay must be made before the expiration of the current permission to stay. It will be interesting to hear from you how the Bangkok immigration office handles it when you apply on April 17.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

My visa expires today 13th I went in on Wednesday for 1 year extension the accounting was not in order, was told by immigration I could come in on 17 th , and apply for the 1 year, or if the paper is not satisfactory -7 days , but I only get to the 20th which is a Sat - two added nights outside the country four all together

Seems they could give a person a break of two days.

If you can not qualify on the 17th you can immediately leave that evening and apply for visa on the 18th and get on 19th and return that day - you are not required to remain for the full 7 days.

Is it true that you can only get a 7 day waiting for approval extension or a 1 year extension . I asked for 3o days to get the accounting up to snuff - and was told this but then I saw the officer stamping 90 days

Thanks for that but the hassle is I am not ready to leave, without going into detail , there is no one to supervise at the business.

So 7 days from the 17th would put me until 24th Thurs, the middle of the week , only two nights needed , but counting from the 13th to the 20th as he told me would happen, means two extra nights away Sat 20th and Sun 21 , and then the Mon 21 and Tues 22 . I'm driving too, so add a whole day for that , takes 10 hours to the border JHFC !! Realy 6 days

I guess it is an option , but so much hassle hassle hassle continuous hassle hassle.

The extension is one year - 7 days is a what is provided if your extension is not approved to leave the country. The time of any extension is from the end of current permitted to stay so they are not doing anything abnormal - your stay ends today regards of what day of the week or holiday it may be so any extension would be from the 13th..

The last time I had to do an extention on a public Holiday I went to the office the first working day after and they back dated the stamp with no penalty for the late reporting, depending on your visa/nationality you'll need to go to either Cheang Wattana, Chamchuri Square or Soi SuanPlu. The vast majority report to CW, SuanPlu is for citizens of Burma,Lao, Cambodia & some other ASEAN member states, not sure which ones though.

Thanks all, we'll see how it goes on the 17th... unsure.png

Though I'd report back to let you know how it went. I went to the office in Chaeng Wattana and they gave me an additional 7 days, they back dated it to when it expired last weekend due to the Songkran holiday.

Way to go my man, not an unsurprising outcome, well done!
