Nice to know, but how was he located and who is legally proceeding? It couldn't be the much maligned Thai Police, could it?

That sounds suspiciously like Scopolamine drugging. Also known as Devils breath..

http://taoism101.wordpress.com/2013/04/05/devils-breath-and-soul-theft-scopolamine/

That's a natural drug, but in the Western countries like the USA or Germany, there is an extensive codex of pharma drugs that can be used to incapacitate, destroy, steal the soul, make into a living zombie the intended target.

that article you included a link to was written by a total idiot who can't connect thoughts, can't form conclusions, makes stupid generalizations about "most Americans" that are ridiculous. For example, the idiotic author writes,

"The more religion, the higher the crime rate and drug use.

Most Americans have left the religion to the point that they don’t

understand the connection to drugs and crime. Religion in America is

now a social club and a way to vote.

You have to look to Asia, Africa, and South America for the

connection to slap you in the face. In this blog, we have seen this

connection many times in Haiti, Africa, and Asia."

If whoever wrote this can't even write English coherently, ostensibly because s/he has taken too much dope and is high, how can that person be able to understand what most Americans say or think, and then make some connection to other countries that are very different from America...and it's funny and humorous to read this article but scary because it exhibits the basic ignorance and hate many people have, but often they can embellish it with correct grammar and writing style or even "science". I am not saying I am the expert in life, but I just point out how ridiculous this article is.

Let me redirect you to an article on the list of drugs that can be used for mind control, written by Fritz Springmeyer when describing the list of CIA mind control drugs used in MK ULTRA, and some of these can actually be obtained here in Thailand!

http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/if_chapter3.htm

it was about Scopolomine.. A drug that makes people very suggestive to give away their belongings etc.

Watch the video... Sorry I should have just put the youtube link but was lazy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopolamine

Enough with the Scopolamine posts - getting off topic.

The guy was drugged and ripped off.

Is the drug used relevant to the article?

Am guessing this will not help Thailand's push to have more foreign investors come here. Will be curious to see what the Thai police do. Either a full out investigation since a foreigner was involved, or they fear the results of a proper investigation and will let this quietly fade away, and hint that he may have disappeared himself.....

Note to self: Do not EVER go into business in Thailand.

Yeah, I think if people really knew the real position here both politically and business wise i think they'd have second thoughts on travel or a business venture , maybe it's time to tell the world. I wish everyone the best in this and a successful conclusion.

Type of drug used is speculative. Was referring more to the replies to your post.

Either way - lets drop it.

Drained his ATM account then let him go is my guess.

We accessed his financials and closed his account access and ATM cards, contacted the State Department, the relevant Thai authorities, his family in the USA and both Thai and American news media outlets and as the walls began to close in his (ex) GF realized she had nowhere left to turn and returned him voluntarily.

He is badly shaken and worse for the experience but is expected to recover from the ordeal.

His Thai attorney(s) are arranging for appropriate legal measures to be taken against the parties involved in this crime and police are expected to bring charges against the perpetrator(s) in a short time.

Thank you to the Ex-pat community for taking an interest, the local and

foreign news media outlets for covering the story, the US Department of

State and Diplomatic Services for American Citizens abroad for swift

action and the local and regional Thai authorities including the Tourist

Police for their assistance and continued support in serving justice.

Ties to Washington state are a lot better than any connection with DC recently....

Hope he's OK - but it does not look good...

If the recent posts in the thread are anything to go by - then he has been found.

The headline may mislead. Washington ties to many indicates something POLITICAL/governmental as in Washington D.C. unless you specify Washington STATE.

Good catch. I went to dive school in Washington State and I missed it. I still thought he was a spy or something! Cheers Jing!

Wow....having your business " partners" kidnap you would be pretty bad, but having your " girlfriend " kidnap you is REALLY hard core. Lesson learned ? If you are rich do not tell your Thai girlfriend... :-)

When body is found, police will probably say another suspected suicide !

Perhaps you should read all the posts in this topic before making a nonsense speculative post:

Wonderful news. It's great that he has friends like you who did everything possible to return him to safety. I hope that those responsible pay dearly.

Excellent point.

I looked at the headline and expected to read something about a American who was close to federal government officials.

Instead, I find myself reading about an unfortunate businessman who has been the apparent victim of a crime.

Not to lessen the gravity of the situation, but were this individual close to high government officials, it would both completely change the nature of the story, not to mention the police investigation.

I understand the friend is desperate and is trying everything he can to find the missing guy, but if he stretched the truth about "ties to Washington" then he may end up with less enthusiastic help. I don't like to see any foreigner on the wrong side of a bad relationship and I hope the best for him but the friend needs to be careful on his selection of words.

Edit: Ok the guy has been found.

The big question now is what is going to happen to the girl?

If someone can get away with a slap on the wrist for pulling this crap then that sends a really bad signal to Thais in general.

At least bad for us.

Italways cracks me up when posters here thinks that the US Embassy has some supernatural power to force the Thai Police or Government to do something. This is just one US citizen around the world who has gotten himself in some sort of trouble, what makes him so special

The "ties to Washington" was a newspaper headline. Since when did a news editor ever get a headline right? I explained in an earlier post that it was written for a Washington State news outlet. Guess what -- in Washington State, they don't say "Washington State" (I know, I lived there.)

Only the fact he has a very good friend who spoke out and did whatever he/she could do to get things done.

Instead of relying on the BiB.

Yes thanks for removing the post. These anti-Americans that show up in nearly every thread regardless of topic are tiresome at best, and sort of sad at worst....

I will be curious to learn how this case was cracked.

I would like to know more details and how he is involved in this, kitchen cabinet and woodworking factory?

How does an American manage to acquire permission and permits to own such a factory in Thailand?

Could he have used his Thai girlfriend of any of her associates as upfront names for the running and owning of businesses in Pattaya?

What role does Harvey Sims, Springer’s business partner in Thailand have in this and what sort of business are they involved in?

All I am trying to do is look for motives and what sort of people these business partners are involved with?

Yanks are allowed to own 100% or a treaty company of some sorts.

Think it is in return as a thankyou for MacDonalds or some such gift.

In the process of filing a police report Nick and Harvey were informed
that the officer in charge wouldn't be available until after 9PM and
that they should go home and return at that time.

Nick requested police assistance in returning to his home which is now
occupied by his ex-gf and her uncle (?) and was told that there was
nothing to worry about and he should return alone.

Nick wanted to retrieve important documents and personal valuables from his home so that his ex couldn't get her hands on them.

Upon returning to his home he was confronted by development security
guards who in addition to his ex denied him entry to his house at which
point the police were summoned and his ex accused Nick of attempting to
break into his OWN home which she claims as her property.

Harvey and Nick were then escorted by police back to the Dongtan
substation where they currently wait and wonder if they are to be
charged.

We are very worried about this ongoing situation and if any ex-pat
community members have recourse or resources to lend at this time to
either raise public awareness or intervene in this matter we could use
the help.

Note that all of the information about this case is coming in first hand
and I am only recapitulating what has been reported to me.

How any of this is germane to the criminal matter at hand is specious.

The facts as I understand them is there is a criminal malfeasance afoot and the specific details of their business partnership are both proprietary and inconsequential in resolving the matter.

NamPlah has provided a checklist of important actions to be taken in the event of a “disappearance”. I've waded through the conspiracy and speculative dribble to sum it up;
1. Immediately put a freeze on the victim’s bank accounts and liquid assets, suspending ATM & credit cards.

- This acts to remove the incentive to kill the victim as there is nothing to steal.

2. Immediately contact appropriate Thai authorities and the victim’s home country foreign office thereby getting the event documented
and putting the wheels of intervention in action.

- Time is of the essence. Do not delay as the clock is ticking.
3. Publicize the event, and do whatever is necessary to get the event broadcast/disseminated. Turn the heat up and make it difficult for the criminals to get around, and cause them to think about the ramifications of their behaviour.

-The more eyes and ears involved, the more likely someone will see something. Criminals, especially potential murderers do not like the attention. make some noise.

4. Have a trusted friend or business partner or relative that has the ability to intervene and is prepared to do so, even if it means stepping on people’s toes.

I’m not privy to the details of the case, but it seems to me that this intervention helped to bring about a positive outcome. If no one makes a fuss, then it is easy for someone to go missing, never to be heard from again.

Anyway, good job. clap2.gif
