Police arrest French bar owner for going on naked rant in Samui Island

At 3:40pm today, Samui police arrested Gabriel Chabriais, a 48-year-old French bar owner, for stripping naked in public and disturbing the peace.

Upon their arrival at his bar, police found a naked Chabriais going on a rampage, destroying furniture in the bar and threatening to kill himself. It took police three hours to calm Chabriais before forcing him to put some clothes on and sending him to Samui Hospital for medical diagnosis.

Anyone know where the bar was located ?

Surely a little pepper-spray from the police on his exposed and easily accessible "merchandise" would have

accelerated it to three minutes biggrin.png

Perhaps there was only a small target to aim for? giggle.gif

According to the newspaper article it is 100/2 Moo 1, Maenam

Kudos to all that they sent him to the hospital. It could have ended a lot worse.

Silly french , doing all what they can to get attention .... and I dont say that because I am french .coffee1.gif

^ apparently not with this guy !! thumbsup.gif

i like your avatour i was just trying to sqash a big on my screen till i worked out it was my screen lol

what was he angry about? the fact that the government would not let hi open a nudest bar ???

i dont think i would like to go to that bar incase the owner starts to take him clothes off and forces me to do stuff that i dont want to do like pay

The Italians call it "cornuto" or "cuckold". Empty fridges, shelves, clothes gone together with the Missus and the buffalo on the wall. Maybe indeed, Inspector Clouseau or Fantomas can lend a helping hand here giggle.gif

oh come on... we`ve all done it.... give the guy a break....

at least he had the balls to blow his life savings on a bar..... well, I say life savings... more likely an inheritance... easy come easy go (as they say....)....

oh come on... we`ve all done it.... give the guy a break....

if u mean stripping in public: true, I did it when I was 13 (and extremely drunk) ...

well there you go then... you likely need a mental age of a young adolescent and an inheritance to buy a bar in thailand...

Lock him up and throw away the key for being such a moron

If acting like a moron becomes illegal in Thailand, prisons will track tourism as a farang dependent growth industry.

What an insensitive post.

Have you ever suffered a mental breakdown? Although I haven't, I have a close friend who has. Support from friends and family and of course, nowadays, medication can help but it's still a painful thing to watch, especially when the person suffering is close to you.

If anyone should be locked up it should be you for displaying a complete lack of humanity.

I agree a nervous breakdown is devastating to family and friends,I had a friend years ago who suffered

a breakdown,we were in our local pub when a taxi driver we knew said he had seen our friend walking naked down the high street,we got in the car and sure enough he was 300metres down the road in the buff we managed to get him covered up and into the car and to hospital, the doctors told us that when people have a breakdown that stripping off clothes is a cry for help.the guy is still in and out of hospital 15 years later.I hope the Frenchman gets the help and support he needs, not ridicule mental illness is not something to laugh at.

Exactly. We don't know what the poor guy has lost and shouldn't jump to conclusions. Could well be a mental breakdown. He may have lost his (thai) partner, his stock, his business, everything. In such a case he is entitled to go a little berserk though in different circumstances.

. Could well be a mental breakdown.

Yes, you may be right...but there is a correct procedure for having mental breakdown in Samui, you have a cup of tea, and then throw yourself

off the nearest cliff...running around naked in your own bar just doesn’t cut the mustard I’m afraid.

maybe he got drunk. someone nicked his clothes when he was asleep woke up after looking for a few hours for his clothes. blew a fuse and went mental.

i should be hiss lawyer!
