The unfortunate Bangkok Airways ATR72-500 that crashed in 2009 was moved in the last few weeks and now rests alongside 'Highway' 4170 near where it intersects 4169 close to Saket. The body is fully stripped down, no nose, with wings stuck inside. It is very close to the road with no sign of a scrap yard, recycling center, welding shop, large trailer, or any other reason to be in that particular spot. After 4 years stuck in an inconspicuous spot at the airport (but fully visible from the ghost road) why there? Anybody see it in transit or know what is its fate now?

#2 not going to happen, since the pilot died in the plane and Thai believe would make it very difficult to make this happen. As a diver, I had this plan and was advised by various people that this might be near to impossible.

Having said that, it's very strange to know what has happened to the wreckage now.

The last time I saw the wreck of the plane it was at the chaweng end of the runway behind the Chinese temple and graves, dont know if it is still there or has been moved.

You must be new or English is your 2nd language doesn't it say on OP it's been moved from the airport.

Having once had a windscreen shatter @ 30kph simply because they used household window glass I wouldn't be at all surprised!

For about 3 years it was parked beside the control tower in full view of everybody landing or taking off from Samui airport. Not a very thrustworthy sign for Bangkok Air...Finally they towed it down to the southern end of the runway and put it behind the Chinese temple under some trees which covered it a bit from sight. And now it is apparently in the south of Samui, waiting for who knows what??? Strange...

Cheers,

Carlos

I said the last time that" I "saw the plane it was at the back of the airport, and did not know if it had been" moved"

.I am not new to Samui I have lived here full time for fourteen years, just because I have just started using Thai Visa Forum does not mean I am new.

?

if you want to be understood try saying what you mean. you were clearly told it was not there, did you actually read the OP?

They wouldn't have moved it so far away from the airport if they didn't have something in mind.

Maybe make a restaurant out of it?

Serving airline food for that authentic appeal.

This the second time today that you have replied to my posts in a negative troll like manner.Like the poster in the other thread said you have to get used to people like you who come across as very bitter and twisted as they haven't got anything better to do.Yes I read the OP and replied to the poster,so what.

Great idea! I have a friend who has the cockpit of an old DC3 freighter. He trailers it around to different fairs in England and people pay to walk through

and gawp at the bits n' bobs. Useful for filmwork as well.

The body and wings are parked on the side of the road opposite a large reclamation site. Problem at moment is a shooting and man was shot at the reclamation site so site shut, however it has turned out to be a tourist site visit, expect to see the usual food and drink sellers any time now.
