500 Baht fine for Fake Watch Vendor who stabbed a German on Pattaya Beach

german-5.jpg

PATTAYA: -- Police arrested a 19 year old fake watch vendor on Thursday Night after he allegedly stabbed a 70 year old German Tourist in his hand as the pair came into contact with each other along Pattaya Beach Road.

The incident began outside of the Royal Garden Plaza as Mr. Fredrick Bistrell and his Thai Girlfriend were walking towards Walking Street. The watch vendor was walking in the opposite direction and the vendor claims that Mr. Bistrell nearly knocked him to the ground as the two men walked past each other.

This angered Khun Mausak who turned-around and began a fight with Mr. Bistrell who was then allegedly stabbed in his hand by the suspect who attempted to escape but was apprehended by passers-by who saw the incident.

500 baht fine for a violent, armed attack on a 70 year old for an accidental street bump?.

Utter idiocy!

How about 3 to 5 for assualt with a deadly weapon and malicous wounding!

And they wonder why crime keeps rising. Penalties like this are hardly a deterrent.

How much did he get fined for selling fake watches???

and were they confiscated??

  • Popular Post

To pay he had to sell half a watch !!!

Who was the genius that came up with the fine ?

That is almost like an invitation to do it again !!

  • Popular Post

Hell, if I pay 1020 TBH , can I stab the vendor twice ??

And keep the tip ....

He litterally had to pay out 100% of the profit he would have made by selling that darn watch...

He will probably fight that as too harsh a punishment...whistling.gif

And the cop is laughing...

some things are just not worth trying to make sense of

Last week it was a Russian that got knifed under the same circumstances, and now a German

man... what is going on with those fake watch sellers? trying to kill their costumers?

So much for the supposed ingrained Thai respect for elders...

I see this as a disturbing trend; a Thai has a bad day and takes it out on a tourist. Sort of like a badge of honor as in Assult a tourist, pay a small cash fine, and walk away with your head high. This fake watch seller is showing the world that 500 baht means nothing to him, well worth the face he gained among his fellow thugs, not to mention the cop smiling approvingly.

Scary man...

As is usually the case I've found out...The police already know these guys,

and get along very well, so it appears only natural they would help each other out,

at times of confusion.

After all the guy is selling counterfeit watches,

so he's certainly on the locals payroll,

in order to stay in business.

Therefore they have to help him stay on the streets,

or the money flow will cease.

And in Phuket,....2 farangs ( Russian i think ) were fined 7500 baht each for drinking a beer in the police station grounds whilst waiting for a matter to be dealt with.

Scary man...

Maybe the Thai respect for elders doesn't include 70 year old foreigners with 20 year old Thai girlfriends??coffee1.gif

Wonder why?

It's little wonder why Phuket is swirling down the toilet due to unchecked crime.

Wonder why?

There's no evidence that the man has a twenty year old girlfriend, unless you want to sterotype of course!

I am sure this type of incident will frighten of the 5m Hi So Chinese tourists TAT wants to attract.

It is almost always a 500 baht fine when a thai assaults a foreigner. The severity of the assault does not seem to matter. This also explains why some thais now seem to assault tourists just for fun, they know there is no risk to them, even if they get caught.

Why are you always making snide remarks, regarding older men having younger wives,g/f. Did you loose a g/f to an older guy and now you cannot get over it?. Or could it be that you are either jealouse of the older men or more likely impotent?.

And the cop is laughing...

A Thai cop at a murder trial was seen handing the defendent cigarettes and 100 baht, so laughing is a minor detail.

The entire law and order situation in this country is declining rapidly, and to be blunt, it's a f***ing disgrace. If they fail to turn things around soon, it's going to be a 'free for all' for such scumbags to do whatever they want.

Of course, what's required as a start point is to disband this bunch of corrupt self-serving thugs, who are loosely referred to as a police force.

Seems to me someone younger with a bigger knife should go and bump into him

and see how brave he is then.

Land of Smiles? OR

Land of Stabbings...

Come on and make my day, you Thai f.......

I have 35 years martial arts experience, so why not come up to me.

I would give him all the anger and punishment he deserves.

That's why I hate this country so much, if a foreigner get caught, he gets a jail term,

but the <deleted>....... Thai walk away with lousy fine.

I had to translate a court judgement, of a case, where a Thai woman shot to an american, he survived,

but she got a 1000 Baht fine on probation. This country is the sh.. of the world.

Regardless of the cause the reaction to stab a 70 year old was extreme.

The fine is also extreme - but at the opposite end of the scale.

Thailand should be embarrassed at this.

This is assault, it is attempted manslaughter... the 500 baht fine is no deterrent whatsoever.

The scum of Thai society is being taught that they can act out their tantrums and anger with impunity.

There is no attitude of crime prevention in Thailand - simply a limited reaction.

I wonder when those on the wrong end of crime and attacks will start taking the law into their own hands and seeking their own revenge.

I hope these stories don't get into Thai news. This could encourage an for open season on tourists for only 500 Baht. Well, Thais know this already. Maybe I should say the Thai judicial system dos not discourage assaults on tourists.

Hope it was the nasty old German that lives in our Complex. Filthy mouth, always

drinking and putting down the Thais and Russians. If it was this guy, I'll pay the

500B fine for the Thai guy.
