Anyone know where to get steel framing?

In case i'm not using the correct terms, I mean : in my country there is a replacement for using 2 by 4's for non load bearing interior walls - modular steel framing. you go to the do it yourself store and various size pieces are available and you build them just like you would a wooden wall, minus the risk of termites. I looked at home pro, homeworks, etc and they've never heard of it, but i've seen it in use in commecial projects in thailand, so i know it's available. anyone know where i could try to get a hold of the stuff?

Nobody can give you a answer on your question! For a verry simple reason, we do not now where you live or what you raely nead. So tell the details and I am sure the people on this form will help you.

"ceiling teams' can build sheet rock walls with metal instead of wood. Every decent building contractor knows several "gypsum ceiling" teams. It is always helpful in my experience to bring a "print out" or picture of what you are trying to source. Often the store staff really do not "understand' even though they might speak some English.

The local building supplier (35 kilometers away) has the lightweight steel "c" sections used to build walls along with everything else. You just have to know what to ask for or take a picture as it's normally buried somewhere in the back or another warehouse. Easy to use. I used it to replace some freestanding walls after the Bangkok flood.

It's available it Homemart stores - "Tra Chang" brand.

I can't find it on their own website, but here;s another website with pics/sizes/prices:

Any Homemart should have this though.

Ask for "koh rong pa-nang" (wall framing)

Edit - found it on the Homemart site: http://www.homemart.co.th/product-detail.asp?product_id=3431

While my house was under construction, I found it extremely useful to have a library of digital photos to show salespeople exactly what I was looking for.
