CHIANG MAI: -- A combined force of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Immigration Bureau and local police yesterday smashed a Korean on-line gambling gang and arrested five Koreans for illegal operation of an on-line gambling in Chiang Mai.

DSI officials said the combined force raided a rented single house at Palm Spring housing estate in Muang District after they received a tip from the South Korean consulate office that a South Korean gang was using a rented house there to operate Internet gambling and betting online business.

Arrested are Jang Hyungkyu, 31, Lee Panho, 30, Jung Kwanghoon, 26, Han Sunggyu, 20, and Seo Minsung, 25. All are South Korean nationals.

Five computers and a number of gambling tickets and cash were seized.

They all were charged with operating online gambling and betting business without license, illegal entry and working without permits.

These guys are in BIG TROUBLE. Gambling (or running a gambling operation) is illegal over here in Korea - and if you are caught doing to overseas - you get charged for the offense as if you had committed the "crime" in here in Korea. This law only applys to South Korean nationals though.
