webfact Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 'Truth Today' talk show gets relaunchBANGKOK: -- Three core leaders of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will host the Truth Today television programme on state-run Channel 11, in a move seen as an attempt to counter the anti-government protests.UDD core leader Jatuporn Prompan on Friday said he and two other red-shirt leaders, Nattawut Saikuar and Veerakarn Musikhapong, would co-host the Truth Today political talk show which is being revived. The programme will relaunch on Saturday and then air from 9.30pm to 10.30pm on weekdays, Mr Jatuporn said. The programme was first broadcast in 2008 during the Samak Sundaravej government. The programme was axed in 2009 when Abhisit Vejjajiva was prime minister. The UDD will hold a mass rally in Ayutthaya province on Tuesday, Constitution Day, in a show of force to protect the elected government, UDD chairwoman Tida Tawornseth said yesterday. The UDD leader lashed out at the People's Democratic Reform Committee-led anti-government protest for being anarchic.Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban had led supporters in seizing government offices and intimidating the media and had almost led the country into a state of chaos, Ms Tida said.Mr Suthep's proposal to invoke Section 7 of the constitution, which would lead to the installation of a royally appointed prime minister and cabinet, was an attempt to use 100,000 votes to nullify the legitimacy of the votes of 15 million, Ms Tida said.In Nakhon Ratchasima, a group of red shirts, carrying placards with messages of support for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, gathered in front of the provincial hall yesterday. The group was led by former transport minister Thawee Kraikupt, former Ratchaburi provincial councillor Suthat Srathongkaew and Sakol Khunapitak, kamnan of tambon Suan Pueng.Meanwhile, an anti-government group staged a rally at Thao Suranaree Monument on Friday. No violence occurred.Anuwat Thinnarat, chairman of the UDD's northeastern network and the Nakhon Ratchasima red-shirt network, said Mr Suthep's threat to escalate his protest to oust the government would ignite more tension in the country. In Udon Thani, Khon Rak Udon Club chairman Khwanchai Praipana, said leaders of red-shirt networks in 20 northeastern provinces have monitored the anti-government movement in Bangkok.Mr Kwanchai believed national police chief Adul Saengsingkaew could control the situation. He said he had not yet decided whether to mobilise red shirts to join the UDD's mass rally on Tuesday, as he was preparing to hold another rally in Udon Thani.-- Phuket News 2013-12-07

Why is it when a red shirt opens it's mouth, I think I'm reading an opposition statement against the red Shirts? Edited December 7, 2013 by ggold 4

Great there is never enough comedy programs on these days, but I am not sure how a Thai version of the three stooges will go down. Edited December 7, 2013 by waza

jackrich Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Truth is a very wide topic. There is:- Truth- Actual Truth- The Truth- Suthep Truth- Thaksin Truth- Farang Truth"The Real Truth" please stand up?The reality is that "The Real Truth" has left Thailand a long time ago.
Dogmatix Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The Truth Today is that the red shirt government is planning to issue arrest warrants for management of BlueSkyChannelTV.
Popular Post JRSoul Posted December 7, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 7, 2013 will the opening words be "The following is a paid political announcement...........spoken by idiots and paid for with your tax baht." 3
billd766 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Will the Democrats be given equal TV time? After all the state pays for the station which means the taxpayers so to avoid being accused of double standards the government MUST allow it. If they do not then surely they are breaking the law, again. 1
Pi Sek Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Truth is a very wide topic. There is: - Truth - Actual Truth - The Truth - Suthep Truth - Thaksin Truth - Farang Truth "The Real Truth" please stand up? The reality is that "The Real Truth" has left Thailand a long time ago. In Truth, the Actual Truth sometimes doesn't convey the message of The Truth (maybe that's why The Truth hurts). Neither does the Suthep Truth or the Thaksin Truth. The Farang Truth can be generally disregarded (as with the Thai Truth) as it's highly opinionated - what's more, unlike the Thai Truth, it has no teeth. 1

waza Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Truth today was a major sponsor of the redshirt movement, this was a backdoor method used for government sponsorship of a protest group, I am sure it will be again. Edited December 7, 2013 by waza

Do you know anything about constitution or law? Obviously not. Whether you like them or not, they haven't done anything against the law. All their actions were in line with Thai constitution and laws. Every single one. There is no legal basis to charge them with anything with regard to 2010 unfortunate events. The blame solely lies with red mobsters. 2

The blame solely lies with red mobsters. I would disagree with you Mackie. The deaths in 2010 were as far as the cases that have been investigated by the courts been the responsibility of the military acting outside the ROE. You are therefore correct about there probably being no legal basis to charge them. The red shirts or at least a minority of them were the reason for the military intervention but the resulting deaths were caused by the army who aren't being held responsible.

No, it will not. The depth, wit and eloquence of your rebuttals are staggering, you must be the ideal that all cyber warriors aspire to. I wait in anticipation for your next illuminating prose. PS: Its interesting that a government funded media outlet would allow the use of public funds and airtime for individuals who are currently on bail for terrorist charges to voice derisive comments given the statement made by government sources concerning the support given by the privately funded Blue Sky network to Suthep. More of the double standards from the criminal Thaksins proxy government. "Surapong also threatened to take legal action against Democrataffiliated Blue Sky satellite television channel, which is broadcasting the protests as well as financial supporters of the protests." selftaopath Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 How about everyone just state the FACTS; no subjective opinion etc. Can this govt. or most Thai people/ or any people do that? Sure we all have opinions/likes/dislikes but FACTS are facts are they not?

"Surapong also threatened to take legal action against Democrataffiliated Blue Sky satellite television channel, which is broadcasting the protests as well as financial supporters of the protests." Not merely "derisive comments", but divisive comments too, one sometimes wonders whether they got the memo from 'PM' Yingluck about wanting reconciliation, or whether all S-Clan members suffer from foot-in-mouth disease ? Certainly one of PTP's tactics seems to be, have different senior public-figures make several varying public-statements, and see which one works best. The 'real' PM's offers to resign and call elections, if it helps bring peace, while other senior-ministers say "absolutely Not !", being another classic example. This strategy no-doubt emanates, like so much else, from Dubai originally. Going back to the OP, isn't this the same show, from which Jatupon was ejected as presenter, about a month ago ? Or am I mis-remembering ? Anyone ?
Baerboxer Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Most countries would not allow the incumbent government, or any political party, to use tax payers money to broadcast their own propaganda. But, hey, TiT. Why haven't certain people had their bail rescinded and been arrested as they very publicly broke their bail conditions recently. No - not arrested but allowed to be on TV instead. I can understand poorly educated, unworldly people, who are thrown a few crumbs and repeatedly fed this bullshit believing this propaganda. But that some educated and well traveled (I assume !) poster on here believe it is mind boggling. Use the law to prosecute our opponents - laws don't apply to us Use tax payers money for our propaganda - threaten, intimidate and sue and media that dares to transmit anything against us Lie to the people whenever it suits us - refuse to answer questions from the opposition and deprive them of the means of asking. Yay for PTP democracy. Do as we say, not as we do, and don't you dare question or protest.
