Australian Rules Football 2014 - Tipping, Chat & The Dream Team

What do you think about the Dreamteam being in a separate thread? I know the soccer forum

is bigger, but their fantasy league is pinned. Maybe the mods could either pin this one or have

a subforum for it? BookMan may know how to get it done if you guys agree.

It's just that, I think come footy season, it's going to be quite big and I think a separate forum

would be better, especially for people like me who aren't in itbiggrin.png

Maybe even split the dreamteam and tipping into one and the general chat into another?

What do you think?

No interest in joining will27? We'd love to have u in the Fantasy League.

Thanks for that mate, but it's not really my cup of tea.

But I'm in for the tippingwink.png

I do hear what you are saying Will27.

However, at this stage, I'd be against splitting it into two threads for the following reasons.

There is only a small, but solid core of us AFL posters on here, so any more we can attract in the next couple of months to participate is a bonus. Having different areas of chat can help with interest.

The Fantasy League has its own message board, so once the Fantasy League and Tipping begins most of the minutiae regarding those comps will take place within those boards. Fantasy League begins pre season so most chat regarding fantasy will migrate then, freeing up this chat area.

Ripstanley was going to set up a Tipping Comp in a similar fashion, and I’d guess that it also has a message board with the comp.

Of course leading up to the start of the Tipping and Fantasy Comps there will be discussion about format, codes, advice on strategies here, just so people who might be interested can become familiar.

At the very least I’d suggest a wait and see approach...if it does gets too crowded on here pre or during the season, split the threads.

Good points made. I didn't realize that the fantasy league had it's own message board.

Surprised there are not more Collingwood supporters who pass this way...

Magpies on track for 100,000 members

AFTER recording a profit of more than $5 million last month on the back of 80,000 members in 2013, Collingwood has let the world know it has already signed 60,000 members for next season.

Despite finishing eighth after defeat in week one of the finals, losing premiership players Heath Shaw and Dale Thomas (to the Giants and Carlton respectively) and delisting Alan Didak, Darren Jolly and Andrew Krakouer, the Magpies are confident they will pass the 100,000 members' mark for the first time.

Probably a perfectly good explanation for that. They are generally unemployed, the only travelling they would do is in the back of the police Divisional Van to court and then the prison van to the 5 star resort. Thailand, <deleted> is that??? If they ever owned a computer/laptop it was probably stolen and they had no idea how to turn it on anyway.biggrin.png

If the the thread gets too big then I'd be all for Will27's suggestion of disecting the threads into their own little bundles of joy. Given that there's only a handful of us with too much time on our hands I'd say for the moment it's best kept in the realms of a singular thread.

As for Collingwood supporters hitting 100,000 members - who's pulling these figures? The same people who call for 100,000 protesters at a UDD rally! Hahaha sorry.. Couldn't help myself :P

Collingwoods membership count is quite misleading IMO.

For example, they have 3 game membership packages, memberships for babies under one,

memberships for people who can't or don't go to the footy etc etc.

20 000 of those memberships are for people outside of Victoria also.

It would be interesting to see how many memberships are for general admission and for reserved

seating.

I know a lot of clubs have packages for juniors etc, but counting 3 gamers as members is a bit rich IMO.

I did a little advertising for this thread on the general forum

Calling Australian Rules Football Supporters.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/688198-calling-australian-rules-football-supporters/

For all you members who are interested in the great game of Australian Football we invite you to come and join us on the following thread.

http://www.thaivisa....the-dream-team/

The reason I am advertising here on the general forum is that some of you may not search for the thread until the season is about to kick off or has commenced and that may be a little late for a couple of things we are participating in.

The forum is generally chat but we are also running tipping and a Dream Team league in the AFL. You will need to join the dream team before the season starts and all are welcome. EVEN COLLINGWOOD SUPPORTERS.

I hope the mods will leave this here until at least March so people can become aware.

Nope they closed it already, can't warn people out prior to the season. It's a real shame because they need to know now and not come searching for a thread after the season has started and say why didn't you have a thread to say this must be done prior. Oh well I tried. Don't have an understanding of Australian Football or the Dream Team requirements.

Nice try anyway chooka.

As long as we regularly do some post throughout the day the thread will keep appearing under the new content area, so it should be seen by a few more.

We already have 10 for the fantasy plus another 3-4 haven't read their PM?

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do when they come for you?

I'd suggest something like 'Lads from Thai Visa'...no copyright there.

Guess the ladies that closed it were fans of the tippy tappy ladies game called soccer and felt threatened by a mans contact sport.

'Tania Hird is calling Andrew Demetriou a liar'

There is no nice way to put this: Tania Hird is calling Andrew Demetriou a liar.

Tania Hird - James Hird’s wife – yesterday launched her attack in what looked like a staged press conference outside her home.

And she effectively called Andrew Demetriou a liar

UPDATE: JAMES Hird says he will fight to protect his right to his $1 million salary while serving his 12-month suspension.

The AFL sensationally announced at 1.22pm that it was holding back discretionary funding to Essendon until it explained why it was continuing to pay Hird's wage.

The Herald Sun understands the amount being withheld is a high percentage of AFL distributions to the club. The AFL's annual distribution to Essendon, in the year ending October 31, was $8.4 million

Quite big news really.

looks like Demetriou knew he was being paid but has done a PR job saying HIrd isnt being paid.

I bet he didn't expect Ms Hird to come out saying James is being paid...Not to the script Andrew likes so much

Andrew had the opportunity to jump ship and take a senior position with the ITA ( International Tennis Association) umm now I think he has destroyed his career
