Do you color your hair?

When i visit UK, females see me as the 70 year old man I am, but in Thailand the ladies insist I look no more than 40

Is there a reason for that?

I started turning gray at about 25. I however have almost a full head of hair but a little thin on top back. By time I was 35 I was 80% silver so I started to color my hair. I use Just for Men. My hair is light brown or blond so I color it a little darker. I am 56 now but in almost perfect shape and my skin still looks good. Everyone says I look 45 tops but If I don't color people guess me at my age just because Of all the silver. So, will I keep using Just for Men .... Dam_n right !

Exactly right.

OP (anyone) whatever your age, if you are healthy and look 45 and have a full head of hair, it is perfectly wise and acceptable to colour it to your natural colour if you want. I think some of the posters here are plain jealous because you've scored a young partner (and good for both of you).

The problem comes if you have pale, wrinkly skin (look much older than 45) and especially if you then choose an inappropriate colour like jet black. I'm afraid that can look ridiculous, but even so, still your choice.

Been colouring my hair for 10 years. Find a good hairdresser who uses quality brand name products (Schwartzkopf etc) and do not let them do it too dark. That is the common mistake & what people "can spot for 100 yards................." Start off too light if necessary & go a bit darker next month. People may not even notice you have done it then. As you age (10 years experience speaking) be sure to lighten it. Over the last 8-10 years i have gone in tiny stages from a BROWN 5 to a BROWN 6.5. You do not know what that means but any good hairdresser will know. I am now 66 & (most) people stiil do not know, and the ones who know!!! have to ask to be sure. I always say yes and the compliment me on keeping a natural shade. 55 year old men do NOT have black hair.

Suggest do not let wife do it unless she REALLY knows what she is doing.

Exactly! Your post reveals that you are still looking at life through Western colored lenses, which have nothing to do with how the Thais look at age.

When I first came here I had my hair colored to my earlier natural color. But after I realized that Thais honor old age (as opposed to the west looking down on old age), I let my hair go naturally gray.

If you ever assimilate into the cultural values here, you'll start to relax about your appearance.

Sorry I didn't mean the OP was ridiculous. I was just pointing out to the many who had said he was ridiculous that indeed the natural look can , well , look a bit odd as well.

But, maybe I am a little older then you because, if like me ... in a few years your beard will be come multi coloured also.

that said ... still have (almost) a full head of hair and few grey ones ... just on the side.
