splitlid Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 TOA do a 2 part etching primer especially for this kind of job. only stuff to use. available at 'most' paint stores with TOA signage home pro and the likes don't stock it usually. 1
Rickaroonie Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 This may be too late for you but if you haven't painted just yet: If it's very new it could have a petrol residue on it but I don't think so. First etch the gutter with just plain white vinegar. This will also rid any residue if it's there. You don't need a primer unless you are finish coating with oil base enamel. Most likely you will be using a water base product. Just purchase the very best exterior acrylic eg; Dulux All Weather or any top line paint of any brand and you will have a good quality paint. Apply 2 coats and this will last a very long time. I've been doing this for over 40 years. This really is the way to do it. Phuket Stan Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Need some help....I want to paint over the top of dark stained timber....what primer should I use....Cheers
kamalabob2 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I am picking up a gardening bench in Buriram at Ruangsangthai Hardware Builders Merchants and an English speaking Sales Woman for a Wood Stain brand "Woodtect" is in the store. I showed her this question and she asked me "Is this Timber on the floor OR is this Timber on the wall?". If Phuket Stan is able to reply I can get a reply and primer suggestion.
