Recommended Posts

they have this teaser website

http://global.yamaha-motor.com/showroom/revstation/teaser_en.php

To be shown in 6 days or so according to timer

Looks like 2 things one some kind of maxi scooter

The other sure looks like the R25 or R3 they have been teasing with

Will be interesting to see.

side profile pic only has single front disc...just in time, bike acquired the tick of death today.

I was hoping .... a lot....That Yamaha would find it in their hearts to do the R250 like they did their 2014 R125

But that profile shot looks like pics we saw earlier with conventional forks etc.

This is their 125

If the 250 looked like this and had the rumoured power and revs I`d be tempted to pay whatever Yamaha demanded of me.

Looks interesting.

Shame not to see USD forks on the blueprint though :(

If anyone can do quality and innovation - it should be Yamaha!

Maxi-scooter thing could be interesting too - I hear the T-Max is an urban weapon.

Either way, I'll be checking back in a week.

Nice find Mania.

Bummer ....you know so many in the States race that cbr & Japan too that

you could probably get a nice top end for it if it is

on its way out.

Yamaha MT-07

You could be right as they have said that will go ahead but

That frontal shot is not the front of a MT-07 eh? Since MT-07 is naked bike

Also MT-07 does not have USD forks either afaik

its either the valve train or the starting clutch ticking...either way, not going to be fun to fix.

MT-07 is already released in the UK and well reviewed. That teaser video is for imminently to be released World models. Looks like Yamaha is going head to head with Honda on the release of new models. Great news. Yamaha have designed some really iconic bikes in the past.RD250 and RD400, RD250LC and RD350LC, FIZZIE, XS650, 1000 EXUP, XJR1300, R1. I expect the MT-09 will be added to that list judging by the way it's flying out of showroom doors.

Birdsandbooze, you forgot the SR500's. Hell Yamaha is even make a new SR 400 now and still only kick start.

My first big bike was a SR500 and it took me from Denmark to France & Spain and back, ahh that was good times.

I think Yamaha will do something to compete with the pcx and the way to do it would be a 150 cc or larger scooter complete with front and rear disc brakes as well as pcx style features. We will see if they pick up the ball.

time has come for a bigger bike then krs or a second hand ninja or cbr500.

Thinking the same thing. Cant push this thing harder for much longer.

Whatever it is that failed, failed while i was doing 160kph...scared the crap out of me, bike just locked up then went back to normal in a split second, but with a ticking sound afterwards.

Siezed piston due to overheat, now messed up ring(s) and scored cyl.

I think the new SR400 will sell well here if the import tax doesn't make the purchase price too high.

bike was only running for under 10 minutes before whatever it was , failed.

Any sound change when you pull in the clutch?

Bad Clutch can sometimes give a ticking but sound will change when pulled in

Tried the screwdriver to your ear stethoscope to try & narrow down area

sound originates from? wink.png

I would at least drain oil & look if any shavings are present.

If so stop running & pull top end or have it pulled since it is such a common bike &

labor is so cheap here.

Open a topic on it & we can follow your progress

Good Luck

PS: Ooops just read back & see you said it locked at 160kph

pull the top no questions asked. If you had a seizure even if it broke

loose after due to the wheel driving it you have problems now that need to be looked at.

Hopefully confined to top end but could also be a lower bearing failed & is now limping along

damaged.

Well one would expect such things from a two-stroke but not a water cooled 4-stroke. Unless it is running very , very lean or has just been rebuilt or...

Yes normally folks tend to remember the 2 stroke seizures as it occurred more often

But happens on 4 strokes near redline too. especially if modded to extend revs or as you say leaned out

by lessening intake restriction without fixing the fuel map with a new map

Here is the same problem it seems.

Guy had a seizure on a cbr 250r ( stock I think ) but pulled in the clutch right away

Later found tappet type ticking.

They check valves & determine for its clearance it should not be audible tapping

pull the top end & find this

569871d1309442198-honda-cbr-250r-review-

Anytime you get a seizure but bike still runs you kind of have to check piston/cylinder.

If it was worse...say a main bearing or sucked a valve it would not be running at all after

Here is the post the guy of the guy with the above pictured seizure

SP: What year model is yours? This one above was a 2011

Then the first check would be valve clearance. If like the guy I mentioned you find

they are fine or close you know whats next.

But in any case a seizure kind of spelt it out

But hey cloud with a silver lining right? wink.png

If your piston or cylinder is scored you may be able to hone & change piston

or

Now you can grab one of those 285cc top end kits smile.png

I remember they were under 10k I think

It is a honda after all. It can be fixed for cheap and parts everywhere. No worries.
