HUA HIN:-- On 15th May 2014, the Chair of National Olympic Committee of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King (NOCT) Gen. Yutthasak Sasiprapha and the deputy chairs Maj. Gen. Jaruek Areeratkaran and Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop attended a meeting at Intercontinental Resort and Spa Hua Hin to discuss preparations for June 2014.

After the meeting, Mr. Suwat, who was appointed an administrative chair for the charity event, said that its aim was to honour Their Majesties who are now staying in Hua Hin and recognise the sporting achievements of His Majesty the King. On 16th December 1957, His Majesty won a gold medal for sailing in the 4th SEA Games. The event will recognise International Olympic Day on 22nd June.

The run will support sporting activities around the world and promote amongst Thai people. “Last year, the Walk & Run for Charity took place in Nakhon Ratchasima. This year, it will be organised in Hua Hin. Actually, we hosted it here in 2010 and we hope that up to 30,000 participants will come to join us,” said Mr. Suwat. “ “The route for walking and running will be in Hua Hin municipal areas, including the Klai Kangwon Royal Residence.

Apart from a T-shirt in yellow which is the colour of His Majesty’s birthday, all participants registered for the event will receive a special medal which has a symbol of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the front side and a portrait of His Majesty sailing on the revese side. We will also organise for 800 students to take part in the event. Although the National Broadcasting of Thailand (NBT) will televise this event, I’d like to invite Thai people to participate in the activity to express gratitude to Their Majesties.” The Walk & Run for Charity 2014 consists of a 4.2 kilometre walk and a 10.5 kilometre run.

The route for starts at the 19 Rai Queen Sirikit Memorial Park, all participants will head to Soi Hua Hin 19, Phetchakasem Road, Klai Kangwon Royal Residence, Soi Hua Hin 35 and back to the starting point. Activities will begin at 6 a.m. and registration can be made through the National Olympic Committee or the Hua Hin Municipality.
