PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Aug 13 -- Prachup Khiri Khan provincial authorities plan to urgently organise Hua Hin Beach, one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, after allowing local entrepreneurs to violate regulations for a long time.

Prachup Khiri Khan Governor Weera Sriwattantrakul called a meeting with the Hua Hin Municipal Office to work out a solution to organise the Hua Hin Beach, as today has been to the D-Day of tidying up the beach.

The purpose of D-Day is to return order and cleantoliness to the popular beach, as well as systemise the standard of service and food prices on the beach. The governor foresaw that all concerned parties must come to a common agreement in order to carry out the measures and regulations.

Mr Weera said that cleaning up the beach would be carried out by the city workers, as most beach entrepreneurs have consented to removing their stalls and understand the aim of the clearing.

As for the price of food, the governor said entrepreneur representatives would be called in to meet to discuss the sales price for food, with signs would then be put up to present the new agreed prices.

Meanwhile, Hua Hin City Chief Pornchai Thomkrajang confirmed that the cleaning up Hua Hin Beach is a necessary procedure as it would help to improve the province's image and provide the fullest benefit to the public, despite the fact that a group of Hua Hin vendors have traveled to Bangkok to file a complaint to the Naitonal Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), asking the council to reconsidering the cleaning up of the beach.

Mr Pornchai said violation of the regulations would not be tolerated, and that all apprehended suspects would face legal action. (MCOT online news)

Nobody goes to Hua Hin for the beach. 90 km. south on that coast the beaches start to improve, and throughout PKK province, from about 20 km north of PKK city, on south, the beaches are amazing. From Thap Sakae, to Ban Krut, and south to Ban Saphan, the beaches are fantastic. But, in HH? The water is funky. No fault of the local officials, like is the case in Samui, where the local officials have been dumping waste water for a generation. But, the area is marshy, and the water is just murky. However, the vending, and the overpriced tourist joints on the beach could be cleaned up, and/or regulated. That would be quite an improvement. Basically, any improvement is better than a free for all.

I always stay at hotels with their own beaches as Hua Hin has nothing to offer in that regard. But it is a clean town and at least its well kept and kind of cool looking, compared to most other town in Thailand which have no interesting architecture or soul.

I have been on the main beach before a year !

terrible !

The beach vendors with beds and ambrellas occupai the complete beach,

no food path to walk, except in the sea to overpass;

Hygienic of the food stalls are terrible , flies and rats can be seen,

and than in the moening when they put there on the entrance all this garbidge on the lorries,

your breakfast comes over a 2nd time;

Than 2 hrs, the horse safe guard waits and force your children for a ride,

very expensive too, but they are valunteers !!

My family agreed,

never back in Hua Hin;

hopefully

"Than 2 hrs, the horse safe guard waits and force your children for a ride, very expensive too, but they are valunteers !!"  horse safe guards: are you kidding? They are not safe, not guards, only voluntary scammers.

I wonder if all those buildings on the beach will go.

They are all illegal structures and should be demolished.  You can see from the picture that the public beach extends all the way to the fishing pier but has been covered up those corrugated iron shacks on stilts that are seafood restaurants.  There was a move to have them demolished about 10 years ago which was I think inspired by one of the Queen's birthday speeches in which she pointed out some environmental problems and other issues in Hua Hin that needed to be fixed.  Unfortunately nothing happened which is probably the same thing that will happen this time as those businesses must pay a lot of baksheesh to the police and local authorities. There was also a plan to move the Soi Bintabaht beer bars further out, as they are too close to the temple, but the only thing that happened was that live music was banned from opposite the wat and the City Beach's soapie was permanently closed and turned into a rather dangerous disco where local thugs take in their guns and shoot holes in the roof fueled by 100 Pipers.

The vendors and deck chair mafia and people who are cruel to horses are no longer content with ruining the beach around the Centara but now extend almost all the way to Khao Takiab.  Some tourists obviously appreciate their services and have little appreciation for pristine beaches.  However, it will be in the long-term good of the people of Hua Hin to clean up the beaches and get rid of all the vendors and mafia, most of whom are not from Hua Hin.

Some police will need to be promoted to the National Police Head Quarters mosquito swatting division along with the former Pattaya police chief and senior police loyal to the Shins to achieve this. Soon National Police HQ will be completely mosquito free.

I hope not and it's interesting that people say that Hua Hin has no beach.

It has…and there are plenty up and down the coast. The area around Chao Lay, is where a few wonderful outside restaurants, serving great food at excellent prices are situated and is part of Hua Hin.

I've been here for 10 years with my family and it would be a disaster to see such an iconic food location disappear just because some fool want to lie on the beach and get brown, with most of them being Europeans who some of whom spend the rest of the year slagging of people with brown skin.

Hua Hin has had a backdrop of history where the wealthy have wanted to build a super marina in the exact same location and this could be yet another attempt to service the whims of the rich and infamous, along with some of those so called bimbo super stars.

How about spending some time on getting the roads fixed, improve parking and give the police a decent well-earned salary, so they don't have to scam everyone in an effort to feed their starving families.

I agree. No-one begs the complainers to come here and no one will beg them not to come back.

Sounds like Skegness is more up their street.

Hua Hin is lovely and will be wrecked if the town planners get their way.

OMG, we could be faced with no great Nepalese tailor shops, but no worry………….we'll just have Charoen Optical open another 50 stores and then wait…………here come the estate agents.

I assume, and hope, that they aren't talking about that area. It's not really a beach there anyway, but a series of piers that have been there for years. The umbrella area near Centara is the area that I can see needs a clean-up. If those restaurants are demolished I don't think I'll go back to Hua Hin.

I am not sure that anyone has regarded the area shown in the photograph here as "Huahin Beach" for a long, long time. Most people would regard the area south of the Hilton as "Huahin Beach", as evidenced by most of the comments so far.

I recall a time in the past when they were going to tear down all the finger wharf guesthouses .... that never seemed to work, though given the results in Phuket, things may change this time ...

Plus there are several far quieter, cleaner and nicer beaches within a few minutes drive. No complaints here

Clear where you are coming from.......!!!????

Incidentally, do you know where the nearest marina with decent facilities for teaching kids to sail, keeping boats from dinghies to boats, with pull out facilities, moorings and workshops/Chandleries is in the Gulf?? I bet not, because there is only one, and its in Jontiem.....yes just one marina in the whole of the gulf of Thailand so I'm not sure where all these 'folk' you have mentioned hang out!!!

Phuket has several and Malaysia many.....so I guess they see something worthwhile that you are clearly missing.

I hope they tear down all those ILLEGAL piered restaurants. They make the place look like a complete shithole.

The place stinks, it is filthy and you would never know it was a beach at all. The local mafia businesses have stolen that public land for their own.

I would love to see the lot bulldozed into the ground and returned to a beach resort.

They have made their money there judging by the crazy prices for basic Thai food. Now its time to go and open on your own land and return the public beach to the public.

Wait - Hua Hin has a beach?

There is one if they, the Ruling Party did the same as in Phuket and other places

Look at the road and then and remove all that is on Public Land on the right of this photo to the east/sea, then you will have your real Hua Hin bay and beach.

In Cha Am there is no problem with their beach.

And I'm sure the Thai's are fully aware of the dangers of asbestos and how to remove it professionally.

The Generals have been consistent up until now. The only thing allowed on the King's beach is sand.

I predict big changes. There is a new Sheriff in town.

I've never been to Hua Hin but always pictured it as a nice, fairly quiet and clean place.
The picture with this article looks more like Walking St in Pattaya.

As I am already having a severe skin deceas due to contaminated waters around Pattaya, my dermatologist in the Bangkok Hospital told me never to go swim near Pattaya, Hua Hin, Cha Am, Phuket and Koh Samui.

About 80% of his patients have been in the water around these places. As long people go into the waters overthere he still has a job.

I have posted this about 6 months ago too...!!!

If it's so awful how come there's so many people on this area of the beach. Last time I was in HH the sunbed/umbrella area was full

of Bangkok weekenders trying to stay out of the sun and eating the seafood I'm sure they wouldn't put up with rubbish food. If you

go for a walk only a short distance south there is plenty of sandy beach with small sunbed areas scattered along the way. I went for a long walk from there right down to Takiab and it was quite good to sit down for 30 mins. half way with a cold beer out of the sun. What's wrong with a bit of choice

some people like to walk to the beach and sit down straight away others like to take a stroll and find a quiet place for themselves.
