Koh Tao murders: Myanmar worker confesses killing British tourists

Seems a lot of criminals hide out in Thailand , shame police clearances aren't needed for a visa. The land of Smiles " is now the land of killers, thugs, drunks & the low lives no other country will take. Tourism is down , I suggest authority's seriously look at bringing in police clearances, but then they'd only have about 10% of the foreigners there then. In saying that, I don't believe these 2 Burmese guys killed the 2 eng people.

9 years ago when i did my first extension after the 3 month ''non o'' a police clearance was necessary which i was able to provide because i had read up about what i would need before i came.

Wow, you're so clever!

There is now a petition for an independent investigation :- 10000 signatures are needed, still 2,207 NEEDED, it will go to Mark Kent, the UK ambassador to Thailand

Please sign!!!

According to ''The Nation'' a legal team is being sent to help them from Andy Hall a rights activist for migrant workers. Bet they didn't see that coming.

Yeah looks highly probable that it's these two alright.

God bless them and may they have the protection that they deserve.

They may get it by way of Bangkok, but PM Prayuth has perhaps embarrassed himself far too much now with his public praise, offer of rewards for the police, and lack of oversight and direction to the investigation. They will likely not receive the protection they deserve where they are right now in Samui

In fact I highly doubt that.

Island justice extends to all those blights on the Thai map.

If there was some way to get this all moved to Bangkok I hope that that can happen.

Two points though

Where are the investigative journalists in all this ?

Can the embassy please consider making regular updates to their compatriots living here so we feel a sense of being informed rather than being pushed aside. You must realise the impact this case is having on all of us here in Bangkok !

I have mad respect for Andy, he is probably going to be serving a few years inside for what he has already done, getting these guys lawyers he knew he would get another round of kickings. If there ever was a real world hero he is up there.

Where are the investigative journalists? Well I think they have had quite an impact on this case. We had a witness come forward in a very dramatic fashion, and rather than question him instead they searched up his criminal record and went to town on the fact he had been convicted for having photos of naked under 17s. Way to go guys! So, of course our only witness has hightailed it and doesn't fancy talking to more press, can't really blame him there.

Doesn't this area of the world warrant a panorama or 60 minutes type enquiry?

Andy s a top bloke but I m talking large scale investigation into the very bowels of these cesspits.

I dont get this burmese vs thai fight. Arent they brothers?

1767 and all that
That was a veryyyy long time ago...

When it comes to revenge, Thais have an extraordinarily long memory.

DNA can prove both guilt and innocence. The family of the murdered girl should perform an autopsy and hopefully still get DNA from the attacker(s). This can be compared to the DNA of the accused by an independent lab outside of Thailand and the truth will be known.

How, exactly would they get the DNA of the accused? Nothing will change the outcome of the case here unless the bosses in BKK are unhappy.

Sheeps found, confession made, dna matched, phone located. What else do the Farang want? Please close the case so people can get going with their life and return tourist to the thai people.

Or if you don't buy that confessions were made or that DNA matched or the phone was located

And can provide some factual Information for a real investigation to start - looks like human rights of thailand is asking for your intelligence...

Sean McAnna, living it up in Choppers Bar during a pub crawl, just a few HOURS after the horrific murder of his 'good friend'.

Clearly devastated.

attachicon.gifSEAN.jpg

if he was witness, complicit or felt himself to be complicit in that through being David's friend, David had ended up with the crowd that led to his death then getting out of your mind blind drunk and god knows what else would be one of many understandable reactions.

Being as this seemed to be his habit anyway, he would have been in shock and also aware that he "had to" carry on as if he didn't know anything...until the pressure became too much a week later (or he had discovered more facts during this time if he hadn't been privy to facts from the get-go)

I read somewhere that Sean didn't know it was David that had been killed until a day or two later, i.e. after this pub crawl night out. I'm sure I saw a Brit who works in a bar out there say that. She also said that his arm wound was from days earlier. But that might be a load of BS!

Does anyone have a screenshot of his FB post where he said "...My mate Dave lost his life on koh Tao. We were meant to meet up when we found out we were both there at the same time but I fell asleep.."

It could change with anonymous reporting though? No?

Let's hypothetically say that it was the Headmans son who did this?

Usually murderers are repeat offenders.

He cannot possibly try to murder someone again because that would definitely nail the coffin in Koh Toa's tourist industry and ruin his dad's business and lose all their money.

But most importantly, why have we not heard anything from the other son or about the son? We've heard about Warot but what about the other one???

I've seen Waruts Facebook. He looks like a arrogant little idiot.

Thai food is my favourite cuisine and visiting there was in my bucket list. It has now been crossed off, and by many others I know too.

nothing illustrates more the vulnerability of the foreigner, when repeatedly thrown in your face is one injustice after the next, that continue while all the people say, it will never happen to them

So you are saying ' Hey this guy has killed once so he cant afford to do it again '

You might be as dangerous as the Thai police.

Way to go man !!!!

At the moment i'm very not buying this.

In the wake of the taxi driver attempted fit up its all very suspicious

Myanmar wont protest either.

of course they havnt been dna tested and yet to be matched so atm its just another BS headline

Really this is all too convenient, but then again what did we expect.... its almost as if we wrote the script ............

regardless of if these are found to be the murderers its been a farce all the way

When things become as outrageously and openly corrupt and predictable as this its time for some soul searching regarding staying here anymore.

At least it is for me

like most here you're totally naive people like you also think politicians are fine but people like me who have lived here over 30 years and also90%+ of thais know how system works here. Im always amazed how stupid most forang are. They come here and even after some time believe values are same as back home. Every this I've talked to about this immediately said of course they will find some burmese scape goat. Without bringing in red yellow taksin etc theirs still forang who believe Taksin is a decent guy and that thailand has democracy. Just one example amongst hundreds.

They are also same people who believe we dont have massive corruption in the west and same thing as here such as so many examples in UK of total incompetance by UK police in manchester grooming scandal welfare workers ignoring all signs of horrendous child abuse or sexual abuse by high up people and the rest. As bad or even worse than here IMO.

IF you dont understand this yes its time to go since your totally naive and ignorant.

HOwever I find it worse i west and UK much worse in many ways since theirs a total denial by most to accept the facts while here at least thais know truth but also know they are powerless to do anything.

I would not live anywhere else but know dangers and would never let a child or daughter of mine kurt of sight or be so stupid as to let a daughter wear a bikini here and go to a secluded place.

I feel very sorry for parents and sad their kids were so naive. It happens in Spain and everywhere.

What represents beaches..swimmers, bikini's this is not the middle east. Your daughter may not be allowed to wear a bikini under your supervision but come back when she's 18 and tell us she still doesn't wear a bikini. After 30 years here you cannot pronounce farang.

Please don't be as inane to to make comparisons between manchester and thailand.

I think your the ignorant and naive person that should leave, because I can assure you 99.9% of us forang here are neither naive or ignorant.

I know it is not much "evidence", but just seeing those burmese workers and their body language, they are in a foreign land and perhaps working illegally. None of it adds up for me. If there was some sort of corroboration like "these two were wanted in Burma for fleeing the scene......" I would believe it more.

I just don't buy any of it. The Thai police can say whatever they want, but the truth is when you are corrupt and inept everyday, you cant just expect people to believe you one day.

In short, even if these are the killers, Thai officers and the way they conduct themselves have brought all the doubt and concerns onto themselves. You cant act and behave unprofessionally, and then expect people to have faith in you. They will never learn this lesson, that there are drawbacks to be suffered from corruption, but so be it. They just think taking money is like a one way street, with no negatives. It is totally childish, and they deserve everything they get, and then some imo.

I was planning to go on holidays to Thailand and thats why i wanted to collect info on that forum but now i definitely dont want to go there . Its more and more attacks towards tourists.

That murder reenactment was really something else.

I'll tell you what, if you are going to organize something like that, and you do it at high tide in the water, and dont have enough sense to look at a tide table.... IDK, there is just nothing else to say, is there?
