AMNAT CHAROEN — A hospital has confirmed that the human leg found by a garbage collector in Amnat Charoen province was amputated from one of its diabetic patients during a recent surgery.

The garbage collector alerted police after he stumbled upon the leg in a trash bag while scouring the landfill in Muang District for recyclable items yesterday.

Police said today that forensic tests reveal the leg was infected with diabetes. Boonyuen Kamhong, deputy Governor of Amnat Charoen, said the administration of a local hospital confirmed that the leg indeed belonged to one of its patients who recently underwent amputation surgery for diabetes.

According to Boonyuen, doctors at the hospital, which has not been named, intended to dispose of the leg in the biowaste bag, but accidentally placed it in trash bag for general refuse. Boonyuen said the hospital has apologised to the city municipality and promised to tighten its hygiene procedures.

If the docs in AC get the biowaste bag mixed up with the one full of empty Mama pots I certainly hope I never have one of them attempting to take my tonsils out. I'd most probably have to piss sitting down from that day forth...

Another brillent, pull from your arse, statement which shows how much pure unadultirated stupidity can be exhibited by some members of the BIB. Today some of the BIB stupids seem to be on news release duty.

How about an apology to the <deleted> patient????

I bet he or she is hopping mad.

Doubt that is was a heartfelt apology........just a knee jerk reaction.

Now they've really put their foot in it. The heels! Somebody would not toe the line it seems, and now bad publicity is their shoe that fits -- and they are wearing it.

What a kick! I wonder how TAT will hand le this one.

I would have made a lamp out of it, and shipped it to you for Christmas marked "Frahgillee".....

Boy, would I ever like to give them a piece of my mind!

Would not be happy if I was the patient.

He already has 1 foot in the grave and having to deal with this.

The hospital should be held accountable for this and stop dragging their feet, shake a leg and apologize to this patient. I bet if the shoe was on the other foot they would not be laughing.. or maybe they would be.

Now we understand why have so many dogs around the hospitals.

But you know, that you are reading NEWS in English in a country in which English is not the native language and from sources who usually have English also not as their first language. So, why splitting hairs? rolleyes.gif

I'd expect the unfortunate owner to be in a photograph pointing his finger at his leg, surrounded by the police and hospital staff !

If that was a photo of the actual leg did they amputate it with an axe.

The press here never fails to amaze me ,, a picture of a chewed off leg ( real or not??) is shown but a kiss and a bit of cleavage oohhhhhh nooooooo

Not sure if anyone else noticed this or not... it looks like the ripped the leg off... not a very "surgical looking" removal. I hope the other end still attaching to the person is in better condition.

In addition the Hospital Director needs a swift boot up the bum...
