Prayut rejects proposal to ban alcohol sale during New Year holidays

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said Tuesday that he disagreed with the proposal of the Public Health Ministry to ban alcohol sale during the long New Year holidays.

He said the sale can proceed normally but the people must be responsible for their own welfare.

Finally some sense!

About the first good thing he's announced that will actually be implemented

How about enforcing driving laws, why don't they increase penalties over the period for speeding and drink driving, I don't even care if it goes straight in to the BIB's pockets. Something needs to be done about the road toll!

Finally some sense!

Not finally.

The man has always been sensible.

It's other people that they never listen to what he says but just interpret in a way that suits them.

I wonder how long the other 2 threads will continue despite this announcement...

So someone says we will ban booze for the holidays. Then the boss says no you wont and he looks like a hero.

All a bit too obvious.

so basically he just sat around and allowed one of his acolytes to make a fool of himself? why?

He hasn't really done much - he just did not take away what people have always had.

Gen Prayuth was quoted as telling officials: "Can they be safe in bikinis ... unless they are not beautiful?"

as he does - returning happiness to Thai people,

and now just adding - people must be responsible for their own welfare.

make good sense.

Maybe they learned from the previous maladministration?

Didn't have much choice really, when the guy proposing the ban also explained how to get round it.

  • Popular Post

of course he did, any chance to make a populist gesture.

i wouldnt put it past them to have put the ban on the table just so he could take it off and appear a reasonable man.

Staged nonsense. I'll be drinking either way, with little to no inconvenience.

Next year, some idiot in the govt will propose cancelling school graduations next year for, I don't know...some monumental and imminent event...and Loong Prayuth will swoop in and un-cancel them.

you can bet that there will be more accidents this year then ever before.

so basically he just sat around and allowed one of his acolytes to make a fool of himself? why?

Unfortunately it would require an entire govt department to stop some of the officials making fools of themselves. How does the old saying go? Better to keep your mouth shut...............

The disrespecful disdain for all things thai repeatedly been posted on this forum and thread is a disgrace.

If things are so bad and thailand so irredeemable, stop being hypocrites and return to the god forsaken homelands you emanate from and which are clearly unimpeachable in all aspects of life and society.

you all make me vomit!

I know the D-word is not allowed, but it does seem like an awful lot of decision-making is in the hands of one man. [Not that I object to this decision]

About the first good thing he's announced that will actually be implemented

Actually that would be NOT implemented LOLclap2.gif

An easy way to improve his poll rating. Now bring in some tough anti drink driving laws Mr Big.

How can anyone call a leader of a military coup, sensible? Beats me.
