National police chief says Samui car bomb gang implicates a former influential politician

It seems that suspects are considered guilty until proven innocent. Direct evidence of involvement by any person has not been established but by these announcements, people are led to believe that it is a done deal. Somewhat like the Burmese suspects in the Koh Tao murder last year... BTW - how is that progressing? Or should I ask? Perhaps they believe that people will just forget them. Hmmmm.

The licence plate and the vehicle serial number should match or did they even bother to do that check?

they forgot to mention motive for the bombing.

Yes...very good point..........what was the motive??....................

May be they are looking for the motive first, and then for possible suspects, not so on Koh Tao though. Call it regional variation.

So it took the pickup 6 hours to cover 300km. I've got one just like that!

Quite reasonable, an average speed of 50 kph. The investigators say that it should not have taken more than three hours so that would require an average speed of 100 kph which, to achieve, would require speeds of 120 to 140 much of the time. Since the national speed limit is 90 kph these investigators are suggesting that the vehicle should have been speeding, the sure fire way to draw the attention of the Highway Police.

Highway police????? I have driven that route many times...Songkla to Donsak....3+ hours (including an Amazon Coffee stop)....number of highway police cars seen....ZERO

I think the whole article is a load of BS and they don't really have a clue. Thai people seem to have such a hard time to admit when they are clue less...

The RTP consistently delivers its skills of embarrassing the country in the eyes of outsiders. However for some reason foreigners can never understand, the RTP never feels any shame or loss of face ......

This is reading like an Alfred Hitchcock novel.

Just catch the red shirts and get it over with.

No need to bother with evidence or proof or anything like that!

Just out of curiosity, how are you going to spin your way out of it if it turns out to be totally unconnected with the red shirts?

Well, my partner who is a Suratthani supporter of Khun Suthep, tells me that without doubt, it was the Redhirts..........so there

I think the military and police have now given the suspects plenty of time to leave Thailand and hide much of their financial assets. But to play it safe I expect the military/police will wait another week or so to make any arrests---if there is anyone still left in country to arrest.

No worries, there will be some Burmese to haul in and string up.

Don't stop along the way for dinner and a massage or you may be a suspect for taking 6 hours to travel three.

I thought the offenders were from the south? Are all people who live outside Bangkok now red shirts or have the people from the north, South, East and west now joined forces to fight the elite of Bangkok.

The term redshirt once applied to those that supported a political party, it seems to apply to anyone who is caught or alleged to have committed any offence from littering to murder. The term offender has now been replaced with the term redshirt.

Dredging the bottom of the slops bucket aren't you. The results of an election don't indicate unanimous support in any region, and supporters of your political flavour are found all over Thailand.

No, not every offender is a redshirt. OTOH, yes, they do seem to have covered the range from littering to murder, fraud to election rigging, intimidation to public defecation, with the emphasis usually on the upper end of the scale

The plot thickens! I didn't know there was a Burmese politician in the south of Thailand at the time.

Thai logic amazes me This is like the guy in blue shirt you are mistaken I drive motor bike can't drive car too many wheels confuse me. Which is like a guy who rides unicycle saying he can't ride bicycle because two wheels twice as hard to ride. and the bad thing is the cops believe this bull -puckycheesy.gif

I hope its like the one with Bobby Ewing in the shower and we suddenly learn that the events of previous years were just a long dream.

The Junta must be seeking advice from the PTP , they were past masters of the dribble effect , it entails a certain amount of BS 98% , 2 drops of truth , and 6 grams of intrigue and the mix is a cocktail of stupidness that means nothing , says nothing and will come to nothing coffee1.gif

I believe normal procedure in the rest of the world is for the police to

quietly investigate an incident, determine who the culprit is, arrest

them, then hold a press conference saying why they arrested that

person. Here in amazing Thailand, the press conferences are like

something out of a dark comedy, with their function being to warn whoever

committed the criminal act so they can do a runner. I always liked the

classic move where the police instead of actually using the name of

the suspected person , use the first letter of the name of the suspect.

Am pretty sure this whole thing will do the classic Thai fadeaway,

but if events move forward, and the guy does a runner, the police will

have some serious egg on their face . However they have had so

much egg on their face over the years, it probably does not matter to

them anymore. After all , in Thailand there is no yesterday, and no

tomorrow..... :-)

Yeah, yeah the evidence proved the driver killed Akeyuth as well!!!

If someone punched you in the face 20 times by a RS and then you put a blindfold on and you got punched in the face again…Who would you think did it. The PDRC!

I personally hope it was a one off and is not the red shirts as we do not need the reds rising again to unleash their brand of terror on the peaceful majority. But then I hoped the Bangkok bombing was a one off as well. I am sure I will hope the next red shirt bombing will be a one off as well and the next and the next….Until they destabilize confidence in the government.

They said it themselves that if the economy fails it will gel the previous opposing political parties to unite and oppose the govt. This came from Jatuporn, HRW and Crisis group. All entities linked to red shirt groups with jatuporn being the leader of the group.

I also remember the PDRC blowing themselves up just to strenuously deny the fact the reds did that as well.

Will history ever teach you...

Stab a ferkin sausage, he's back. I was kinda hoping that you'd gone on permanent duty to Ulan Bator or somewhere. Wherever it is you've been it didn't dull that imagination of yours. Have you considered writing childrens' books? Your ability to conjure up fairy stories could earn you a fortune. How about I start you off.... "Once upon a time, there was a red under my bed....."

No real argument to respond so do a personal attack on the writer. How clever.

I note chooka liked your personal attack, strange logic from one who claims to have been a senior police officer in Australia.

What's my political flavour? It certainly isn't the lowlife piece of excrement called Thaksin or his associates and it definately isn't the equally low piece call Prayuth, Suthep and thier band of garbage either.

It's the internet where anyone can claim to be anyone they want, no matter how many thousands of posts they make that run contrary to their claim. ;)
