Russian FM: Israel's new settlement plans negatively affect talks on Palestinian issue

The topic is about Russian opinions and nothing about some out of date hopeless organization inappropriately named the UN.

"Russian FM: Israel's new settlement plans negatively affect talks on Palestinian issue."

Newsflash. Russia's new settlement plans in the Ukraine and elsewhere negatively affect its relations worldwide. Russia is a serial human rights abuser and is trying to deflect attention from its own atrocities.

Yes, very true. That does not mean though their assertion of Israel's policies is wrong.

It is ironic to see the current Jewish situation. The Jewish suffered brutalities in WW11. After liberating/defeating Germany, the Allies gave the countries they overrun back to the owners. Russia, another country just as brutal as Germany during the war imposed their control over all countries they overrun. Israel now has adopted this Russian principle. Shame on Israel, shame on the US, shame on every country that sees Israeli land grabbing aggression. And don't talk about the UN. A hamstrung organisation that costs millions to support and delivers zip.

The UN may deliver zip to resolving the Israeli / Palestinian conflict, but very year contributes massively to reducing peoples' suffering around the world's on a daily basis e.g.

Every year, the UN feeds 104 million people in 80 countries. They feed people in war zones, natural disasters, health emergencies and poor countries.

UNHCR has helped 17 million asylum-seekers and refugees. Ongoing support for the internally displaced in conflict zones etc

UNICEF, the number of deaths for children under the age of 5 has declined from nearly 12 million in 1990 to 6.9 million in 2011.

helping to drastically reduce infant and maternal mortality in over 100 countries

Currently 16 locations worldwide for peacekeeping operations in which UN staff have been killed.

Sounds good to me as we know Israel can do no wrong because their lobbyists told us so. There again there are stories like this that are best ignored as an inconvenient truth:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-05-05/israeli-soldiers-describe-how-they-shot-innocent-civilians-because-they-were-bored

I particularly liked this Israeli soldiers comment: “War crime is a big word,” he said in an interview at a Tel Aviv apartment Sunday. “I didn’t rape and kill anybody, but yeah, I shot at random civilian targets sometimes, just for fun, so yeah.”

This was also inspiring: among the actions described by the soldiers are "reducing Gaza neighborhoods to sand, firing artillery at random houses to avenge fallen comrades, shooting at innocent civilians because they were bored and watching armed drones attack a pair of women talking on cellphones because they were assumed to be Hamas scouts."

There you go....Your hateful antisemitism ignores the FACT that he didn't rape and kill anybody as they do in Syria. HE DID NO RAPING!!! So he's good, isn't he.

Why don't you complain about ISIS huh?

This thread isn't about IS or Syria, it's about Israelis building even more ILLEGAL settlements and using war crimes to supress the Palestinians when they fight back.

I worked for the UN for a time, so I do see some of the good they do, but I don't think that is what this topic is about.

The UN is a very expensive organization to operate and it doesn't always fare well in situations involving warring countries. They are indispensible in cleaning up the aftermath of war, however.

Humanitarian aid is all the UN is good for if it's good at that. It sure isn't going to be telling a more powerful military what to do, yet some people keep saying "the UN should... the UN should..." The UN ain't gunna do squat. End of.

Sorry, but I can't let that go. You imply that the Allies ( and btw Russia was an "ally" ) gave the countries back out of the goodness of their hearts. Far as I know the US wasn't wanting to take them over, though it did help France keep Indochina and they did keep the Phillipines. Britain only gave up the Empire because it was broke and didn't have the will to fight the independence movements. They did hold on as long as possible though, keeping Malaysia, Singapore and many others till forced to give them up.

Had they had the guts to stand up to the Zionists in Palestine, they would have prevented a great deal of trouble in the present, but in the face of the Hagana, Stern gang and Begin's Irgun terrorism they gave up and ran away with tail between legs, leaving Palestine to be destroyed by the pro Zionist elements in the US government.

So, far from giving Palestine back to it's owners, they set it up to be taken over by the Zionists, going as far as to disarm the Palestinians and give the Zionists military training during WW2..
