"A handgun and ammunition were found in the house but all were all legally registered."

So the picture was from another search ??

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. The story never did say where weapons were found. The first paragraph said 12 places were searched, then the third paragraph said 4 houses were searched. Very confusing. And as another poster asked, what's with the 2 wooden buffalo heads and that large cat?

Do registered guns mean all is ok, I don't understand the thing with registration here. When the ex Top Cop was nailed in Japan with his hand gun an effort to prove it's registration was made.

The fishing fleet, registered vessels are all AOK.

As though paying a fee and getting a piece of paper will cause a change in moral values and and end to any possible criminal action.

I'm not suggesting registering of guns vehicles etc is not a worthwhile method of keeping tabs on the numbers and location of said items.

Confusing picture, headline and report. The report indicates "A handgun and ammunition were found in the house but all were all legally registered." So where were the weapons etc. that are shown in the picture actually found? At a different location altogether presumably? Totally inaccurate reporting yet again. What happened to editing?

"simultaneous searches of 12 places in Uthai Thani's Muang and Sawang-arom districts"

from the OP, they searched eleven other places, as well.

No, they searched 8 other p;aces as well. The third paragraph says they searched four houses but they didn't find any weapons there. The story never does say where illegal weapons were found.

who ever owns them, it's certainly a collection of weapons that you wouldn't use in any normal situation like self protection, a fun day on the rifle range etc., now if you were up to no good it's good collection of firearms to create havoc and to do the maximum amount of damage.

But no worries, it will all be forgotten by tomorrow after a nice lunch somewhere with the mandatory exchange of envelopes.

There appears to be a disconnect between posted photo and related article which states that a handgun and some ammunition were found but that they were legally registered. Anything for a Headliner!

Thai Journo Rule No 1. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story, or truth interfere with a juicy rumour or a good looking picture.

It all depends on how you read the story and how you view what is said. I doesn't say the weapons in the photo weren't from the house of the ex MP, what it infers is that a hand gun and ammunition were found which are licensed - everything else is up on the air, maybe purposely.

That is an incredible cache of weapons to just have lying around your house.

This should result in a lengthy prison sentence.

I wont hold my breath.

"I wont hold my breath"

Oh please do, read the last line of the article!

This is a huge arsenal? Please. Looks like maybe 10 guns. What utter nonsense and more of the GUNS=BAD group. People, guns aren't bad or good. People are. Stop the GUN=BAD stuff, its old and just part of that globalist narrative. Utter nonsense.

Police cracks down on influential figures

BANGKOK: -- CRIME SUPPRESSION Division (CSD) police officers and commandos yesterday raided 11 locations belonging to alleged influential figures in Uthai Thani's Muang and Sawang Arom districts.

Most of the targeted premises were those of former or local politicians. They included the house of former Chart Thai Pattana Party MP Chada Thaiset and a resort building under the care of Chada's nephew.

The 200-strong "Yutthakan Sakaekrang" operation was led by acting CSD chief Pol Colonel Akkaradech Pimolsri and CSD deputy chief Pol Colonel Kornchai Klaikleung. It seized 20 guns, four bullet-proof vests, two tiger skins, two pairs of wildlife horns and a clouded leopard carcass.

Kornchai said the operation was part of the Royal Thai Police's policy to suppress crime, crack down on influential figures and hired guns. Kornchai said police would submit the guns for ballistic testing and check if they were linked to any crime.

It was reported that Niran Pheungsamper, a suspect wanted for the murder of Kamphaeng Phet-based Pol Colonel Kirkrit Niyomserm at his Nakhon Sawan home in April 2011, was lying low in Uthai Thani and there was a report he knew Chada, according to police.

At Chada's home in Muang district, officers found only Chada's sister, Mananya Thaiset, and discovered a pistol and ammunition. The 200-rai resort home under the care of Chada's 27-year-old nephew Jayset Sukses did not yield any illegal items, although police impounded a BMW motorbike as it reportedly had no ownership documents.

Mananya denied knowing or ever seeing Niran. She didn't know if Chada - who at the time was travelling to Bangkok on an errand - personally knew the fugitive. However, Chada was a politician who knew many people, she said. She also dismissed the allegation that her family members were influential figures in the province.

Only a registered handgun and ammo were found at the house, and the rest (presumably) came from all the other 11 residences searched.

There are reportedly 20 guns seized, but only eleven are in the picture, and eleven residences were searched. Um, that's 1.8 guns per house.

Which ones are illegal? It's unsaid. Was anyone arrested? It's unsaid. Did the cops have any idea what was going on? That goes without saying.

I do love the line "Most of the targeted premises were those of former or local politicians."

It needs a rewrite: "All of the premises of former or local and undesirable politicians were targeted, mostly."thumbsup.gif

what is the microphone with the orange pop filter amongst the shotguns for, has it been involved in drive by advertising?.

No, it's a potato masher...

attachicon.gifimage.jpg

Off topic a bit, but I say microphone as it has the network ID around it.

And BTW if Thai media knew how to use it and were not restricted by their culture and the Junta, it would be a far more powerful tool than any guns held by so called influential people.

I have no idea who these people are, but I'll bet they are current or former red-shirt supporters or leaders.

Whack-a-mole, whack-a-mole. More preparations for an unopposed election in 2025.

True, you have no idea, but you inherent bias is working well. Perhaps if you read the OP..............."Chart Thai Pattana party’s MP Chada Thaiset"

"Huge arsenal"??

555

in America that's called a "starter kit"

Haven't spotted any massacres since the black churchgoers down south recently. Bearing in mind there were usually one or two per week, have they become so commonplace and boring they're not bothering to report them now? I certainly stopped bothering to read them coffee1.gif

Looks significantly more than "a handgun" to me!

You did read that they searched 12 houses, what means there were another 11 houses searched besides the MP'S.

Yes, I did read that, but the way the caption and photograph were posted, it looked like the above "collection" was from the MP's house.
