Dirty sheets, making me pay for it

Featured Replies

I'm at a hotel at the moment in BKK {LA Hotel) and they are trying to charge me for sheets that were already dirty, i have refused where i check out later tonight. What will happen if I walk away or get the police involved?

I'm confused,

The sheets were dirty when you checked in? Why did you not complain then?

You made the sheets dirty beyond reasonable use? You pay.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Walking without paying will get you involved with the BiB, probably unwise.

Have you tried talking to the manager? At what point did they say they were going to charge as you've not actually checked out yet?

yes, but there is no manager until Monday...

I am thinking about getting the police involved cause i have photos but i doubt they will help... still an option i'm looking at!

BiB - Boys in Brown - the local fuzz.

If you do get arrested there won't be a judge until Monday either.

It may be best to cut your losses and pay, but ask to take your property (that you just paid for) with you smile.png

EDIT As you seem to be on a late check out do you have a flight to catch?

You took photo's of the dirty sheets before and after use ?

what sort of hotel does not have a manager on duty ?

yep!

How much are they asking for the sheets?

How much is missing your flight going to cost you (when the BiB get involved)?

Make an educated decision.

A total scam...

Just pay for the sheets but take them with you and toss them in the trash outside. Not on the street in a bin if you can find one. Also make sure every guest around knows what happened to you. Stop guest in the lobby and say they are charging you and it's a scam. Then go get on your flight.

Are they charging you or the sheets or the cost of cleaning them?

If its the cost of cleaning I would just pay it and put it up to experience.

One time in Pattaya i got blood on a sheet. They left the sheet on the floor in my room. Told me it would cost 500 baht for them to get the blood out as extra cost,or I clean myself. So i went to 7/11 got a stain remover went back to the room applied it and blood was gone. Called the maid in showed her the nonstained sheets all was ok. I was theer for a few days so had more time.

Sort of odd you have a flight to catch but have time to chat on TV about this.

You did not shit the bed,did you ?, that could explain it.

regards Worgeordie

I wonder what would happen if there was no ThaiVisa until next Monday?

Very old scam, but you have a flight to catch so consider yourself scammed. Next time don't accept the room with dirty sheets/towels/etc. Even budget hotels will do the laundry after a guest leaves, so a new arrival has a reasonable expectation of clean bedding. If not - walk out :)

Or left big dirty black marks on them from lying on the bed with his shoes on which doesnt wash out properly

The sheets aren't very dirty, you can hardly see the marks where I'm at a semi-budget hotel so I EXPECT things not to be perfect!

If I don't pay, what are my options, im' proposing to just walk out when i give them the keys...

I do get rather bored reading so many posts here of what is the cheapest way to do A,B,C etc. if you are financially troubled then it's unfortunate that you end up in a <deleted> hole that classifies itself as a hotel. Basically, you get what you pay for, and the lower end of the market is used to cheap Charlie's, one night stands, rooms not being treated fairly by low class renters. It would help if you explained in full the so called dirty sheets . I am sure most middle to upper class hotels expect and are used to customers who are incontinent, or the woman with menstrual issues, or stains resulting from sexual encounters.

The lower class hotels, probably make a good income from the likes of you. As already mentioned, it's your choice how you want to resolve the issues ! But I would have thought a complaint against the sheets when you checked in would have been the obvious .

geeezzeee .... how much are we talking here .. 200 baht ? 300 .. 500 ?? blink.png

just pay it and *uk off outta there ..... or you wanna spend 3 hours at the police station filling out forms !!!

Did you book online via agoda or last minute. If so talk to the manager and suggest that if they press for payment for the dirty sheets you will spend the next month posting your story on facebook, travelfish, agoda and so on.

If I ruined the sheets I would pay for them. If I did not ruin the sheets I would not pay for them.

If I ruined the sheets I would pay for them. If I did not ruin the sheets I would not pay for them.

If I didn't ruin them but would loose a 400 USD flight I would pay the 300 Baht. I would be very unhappy about it and complain where I can (Agoda) but wouldn't miss my flight.

This is not the west. Stuff like this is a civil matter and not under police jurisdiction.

Get your passport back prior to paying the bill if you can. Pay what you agreed to and bail if there is nobody around. A passport stop at the airport is very unlikely.

If they try to physically restrain you I'd probably just pay if its reasonable LOL.

Some of these places look like they have clean sheets. Look under the mattress pad and there are usually just levels of what looks like human sex secretions/stains from years of people getting funky and the vibes to match.

Same with pillows, nasty stuff under the covers.

I bought a new pillow and travel with that. Worth it for something your snuggling your face into all night.

Yep, shame them a bit, is all you can do without getting into troubles.

It seems the message is out that farangs are easy game.

Business is low, desperate people resort to desperate means.

... Poor Thailand is slowly sinking.

Sorry for being pessimistic, but i'm starting to ask myself some question... Is this the same place i fell in love with some 16 years ago ??

Your kidding me right?

Hotel? Sheets? Fresh clean ones each day right?

How much of a budget hotel is this?

I would pay up.....if the alternative meant missing my flight.

But i would try and buy the replacement sheet myself.

Then go to tripadvisor and tell the world about it.....go to their facebook and write about it.

How did they know about the dirty sheets if you haven't checked out or complained yet.. What prompted them to try and charge you?

Do they have your Credit Card on File ?

if not, then walk!!!

or,, if they have your credit card on File, then WALK,, and cancel your card (before walking).

you can get a new card when you are at home again.

if you Must pay money, then KEEP THE SHEETS (and give them to a homeless person or something).

otherwise, go to buy some Hydrogen Peroxide (from any pharmacy)... - 24 hour pharmacy at Foodlands.

and see if it removes stains.

Reminds me of the time my GF bled ( period ) all over the sheets and even the mattress. Had a stressful couple of hours till I managed to get enough blood out that the staff wouldn't notice. I could have bought the sheets, but the mattress would have been a bit much for my budget.

This thread just reminded me of why I stay at the Marriot & Sheraton ....coffee1.gif

This post has become a BIG saai.gif . But as posted above... what sort of dump do you stay in ?
