CHIANG MAI:-- A 36 year old French national was found dead in his guest house in downtown Chiang Mai after not being seen or heard of for three days. No foul play is suspected in the case.

Officers and medical personnel led by Niphitapon Taeprajit of the Chiang Mai police were called to the guest house in Chaiyaphum Road in the Chang Moi sub district around noon Friday when a terrible smell was detected emanating from a second floor room.

On arrival investigators tried to force the door without success but unable to get into the locked room a foundation worker managed to gain access through a window. Inside they found the already badly bloated corpse of Mr Alex Nseri, 36.

Medical staff estimated he had been dead for three days and the body had decomposed quickly in the hot weather.

There were no apparent injuries to the body and the dead man's valuables and possessions were in the room.

Further questioning of the guest house staff revealed that Mr Nseri had rented the room since Tuesday 8th of March. The body was taken to the Maharaj Nakhorn Chiang Mai hospital for further detailed examination to determine exact cause of death though medical personnel at the scene suspected death from disease.

The French embassy has been notified so that relatives could be contacted.

'Death by disease' is a bit vague.

No mention of medication in the room.

However, another young foreigner passing away over here.

R.I.P.

No note, no bottles and no medication found in the room. Why didn't his Thai GF try to contact him sooner .... ?

alot missing in this report, insufficiant information to evaluate a cause .....

also, I wonder if his room was paid in advance .. ?

That one was covered up the place was owned by a ex mayor , an investigation by 60 minutes who took samples from the room back to NZ for testing proved that a toxic chemical had been used in the room to kill bed bugs, (forget the name of it) but no one was held accountable.

This one , the guest house looks like very budget dont know if they would have sprayed it, one possibility may have been to much date rape drug .

A bit young to die,of a heart attack but we will probably never know.

RIP another tourist dies in LOS.

You're not very well read I take it. The investigation you refer to was carried out by experts from USA, Canada, U.K., Japan, Australia, and on and on. They could not reach a conclusion as to how all the people died at that hotel. Ex-Mayor? How do you know?

No foul play is suspected in this case? No foul play is suspected in any case!

No the article is very quick to point that out as usual.

Everyone knows who owned the Doomtown Inn and to whom he was related.

There were cover ups galore related to the cluster of deaths in that hotel.

Still, at least it's now a weed garden unless something's changed since I last walked past it.

It was a total o six dead and two almost dead that recovered from a certain hotel. All the deaths occurred between Jan. 11 2011 and Feb. 2011. The other two that survived were roommates with Sara who died. At first they could not find the cause of death and were adamant that is was not the hotels fault. Then when they found out the bug spraying was done by and outside company then for a day or so the Health Department had thought they were poisoned by the chemicals used to get rid of a bed bug infestation. Later, when it was found that the owners of the bug spray company were closely related to the owners of the hotel that theory was dropped. The beds were removed from the hotel and burned prior to the investigation by U.S., Canada, and Japan so their investigations had to rely on toxicology test taken by the Thais in most cases. It should also be known that the suspected chemical is absorbed through the skin which explains why the three girls from NZ in a room together started to get better once hospitalized but then became ill again the day they checked back into their room. Ending in the death of Sara and massive surgery on one of the other girls. The chemical used will dissipate in even a dead body after 24 hours and that could be the reason for there being a lack of evidence in the bodies. During the same time frame there was also at least one other death of an American who was staying at a different accommodation in the Old City, same type of death.
