They = immigration officers in phuket town

I only go there in the last decade when i need new RC. Sometimes 2 RC in a year or sometimes they not see my face for 5 years.

Yes i leave every 60-90 days.

Ok, quite possible .... given you have the appropriate form signed by the house owner and endorsed by owner ID and house paper copies.

I do not believe Phuket immigration would staple this registration slip to you passport at you own request without supporting documents.

Yes, I think same as me. I am not doing the 90 days report because i am on multi entry non o and going in and out many time (no extension of stay).

Last year as i needed a RC, the immigration told me that i needed first to have my address registered (copy tabien baan...). As my son is actually the real owner of my house, i came back with him and all required documents. Then they made this registration in few minutes, both my son and myself signed few docs, they attached the notification of alien's into my passport and told me to keep it and not lose it. And then give the RC.

Later this year, i needed a new RC. I showed up at the immigration with my passport only. Once they saw the notification of alien's in my passport (actually it's new passport), then few minutes later, I got my new RC.that's was it.

I stopped by Immigration and asked the other day, (ground floor) and at first got the message that if my address was registered from last year I needed only my passport, copy passport main page and copy visa, and fill in the form and I could get the residence certificate. Uplifted over one less hurdle I went quickly home found my passport, filled the form and took a couple of copies of the passport. When I returned I got the message that I needed the slip from the housemaster address registration, which I unfortunately cant find....... and well I thought for a moment that Immigration had this on file...so guess I have to register again and do it all over sad.png

Maybe you will find this slip in the back of your passport. Normaly they staple it in there like in my passport.

It can be I have it in between a lot of other documents, anyway I also remember that I took copies of it last year because The message at Immigration was take care of this and you dont need to register your address again.

Next desk and just 15 minutes later was issued two residence certificates ....eh Thb 600,- Thank you........anyway totally 40 minutesthumbsup.gif and the longest wait first in queue was actually for 1 (one) copy of the newly issued "house registration from owner, the girls taking care of copies have clearly not been on the same smile and service course as the Immigration folksrolleyes.gif

I dont understand why the "man behind the steering wheel" not make it a obligatory legal fee. Its been asked as long as I can remember in Phuket.

Btw, how long is the residence certificate valid?

Update, Transport office wanted only one certificate of residence + copy for renewal of both car and motorcycle license. On the form at Immigration the volunteers insist on mark the form for both Car and motorbike. The residence certificates are equal to each other and do not state one for motorbike and one for car so Thb 300 was in my case wasted at Immigration.

As you well know they should be free. But Transport will accept a copy (and endorse) so long as they see the original. Done that in tha past many times.

Thanks for the good news!

I need to do both bike and pickup in a few weeks. Last time, the immigration volunteer said I needed two certificates, but I got one and colour copied it. gigglem.gif

in our local amphur office i saw a sign they provide said certificate also have read posts about police stations have also provided confirmation

you could try might get lucky i dont know which embassy you use but uk certainly will do

once you have made an appointment and made yourself 2000 bht lighter

Quite sure Phuket police would send you to Phuket Immigration.

Doubt whether the Phuket Honorary Consul could issue any paper. You would need to go to Bangkok Embassy.

Had a friend that tried last year, And as you suspected the UK consulate in Phuket don't do this.

Have to make a new RC the next days.

Phuket Town going rate is 300Baht.

How much they want in Patong at the moment?

It's free is you tough it out ... just challenge them ... last year an officer in Patong was transferred out when caught.

Please don't pay them, it just encourages them! I pointed it out and the officer quickly changed the subject to the weather , laughed and then gave me my certificate.

IT"S FREE, I don't understand why anyone pays facepalm.gif

There can only be 3 answers to that in my opinion, the first is that they've become paranoid about the power of immigration officials, the second that they like to make a point that 300B is nothing to them or the 3rd is that they have got no balls. laugh.png

Or fourth guys like the system of tea money here and enjoy to support it.

I got smoothly many things in all the years what i normaly can't get. Good that Thailand is no nanny state.

Showing balls about 300 Baht ?

"Guys like the system of tea money here and like to support it" cheesy.gif

Funny, I've got many things done over the years here too and NEVER had to pay tea money.thumbsup.gif

I understand too well how things work here but if EVERYONE stopped feeding corruption it would eventually die.

People are just too lazy and opt for the easy way, they are so bogged down with it all and think they can't win, hence why it just keeps rolling along. bah.gif

LiK,

In my passport, stapled in the back is my notification of address and another that is notification of 90 day stay.

But that is not the same as Residence Certificate ... so what's your point ?

Posted

I just photo-copied it and it was accepted. That's my point.

I'll be giving that a go in a few weeks. smile.png

Can you please post a report how that went when done.

Thank you.

Interesting to know that. I guess as it shows an address thenn it should be accepted.

These days I don't need a CR as I use my WP.

Here's the current situation: the lady at the Information Desk is NOT accepting the "Notice of Alien's Address" receipt in your passport as the "Address Certificate" requirement. She told me to get a "Address Certificate" from Immigration. I said that my friend had used his receipt which had been accepted and she replied that she had checked and it was not acceptable.

When I was back at the Transport Office I met a friend's wife (farang). She was also told to get a "Address Certificate" from Immigration after she presented her "Notice of Alien's Address" receipt and even though her husband (also farang) had used his "Notice of Alien's Address" receipt to get his license just two weeks earlier.

So KB was lucky to have gone during the period when they accepted the "Notice of Alien's Address" receipt, but those days are currently over.

Of course, next week could be another story.

The only good news: my licenses are valid until May 2022 because I went after they'd expired. At least that still works smile.png

Same for me. I got two, was told 600 baht. I said "Not free?". He replied "First one free", so I gave him 300.

I should've got just one and photocopied it - which is acceptable at the Transport Office.
