CHIANG MAI:-- Social Media was abuzz Tuesday as a public spirited Chiang Mai woman responded to a Facebook request after a man dropped 50,000 baht in the street, reports Thaivisa News.

Wuthipong Buntha, who dropped the money as he was riding his motorbike near the Khuang Sing intersection had earlier reported the matter with a friend to the Chang Pheuak police.

He was travelling to a big bike shop to put down a deposit on a Yamaha that he was going to accessorise with his friend Dejduang Kongchan.

When he got to the shop he realised he had lost the money some of which he had just got out of an ATM at a petrol station. An online request was made as police were about to warn the public that if found it should be handed in to authorities or could be considered theft.

But in next to no time a lady who was not named had gone to the police station and handed over a fistful of the 1000 baht notes to the grateful Wuthiphong.

Always seems to be a balancing story when you read of a taxi robbing some one. Normally it is the next day but they were quick off the mark for this one. Taxi robs customer the good Samaritan. I am not saying this did not happen for the guy to get his money back. All I am saying is they tend to equalize the story that shows taxis in a bad light with a "feel good story". Normally it is a taxi driver returns cash. Maybe that will be a headline tomorrow.

story smells fishy , who drop that much money riding a bike and doesn't stop ....

Your lack of imagination smells fishy. Haven't you ever lost anything and didn't know it at the time? Sure you have.

In the other paper we are not allow to quote it, seems as though he had the cash in a waist bag that he forgot to zip up and didn't notice that the wind had sucked the money out.

It didn't say but from the other paper I wouldn't expect that much was returned so perhaps he lost between 40 and 50,000.

I have had something similar happen when I ride my bike if I don't zip up the pockets and I lost my wallet one time as it worked its way out of my trouser pocket. Some Thais caught me up about 2 km down the road but by the time I got back it was gone. Only about 3,000 baht and my debit card, store cards and licences were lost.

I cancelled the debit card and reported the loss to the police. It cost me 20 baht for the report as it is needed for the Bank and the DLT.

Appears the guy is a drug dealer with a warrant out on him since February 13, 2555. So going to the police to report his loss... biggrin.png

You cannot lose something and know it at the time. Duh ?
