Wat Dhammakaya wants DSI to withhold arrest of Dhammachayo

BANGKOK: Phra Dhammachayo’s followers have wanted the Department of Special Investigation not to arrest the embattled abbot of Wat Dhammakaya now until there is a ruling from the Appeals Court regarding the lawyers’ appeal against the Criminal Court’s rejection against their demand for the withdrawal of the arrest warrant.

The monk’s followers also want to hear from the Medical Council about their request for a team of doctors to be sent to the temple to examine Phra Dhammachayo’s health conditions.

Mr Ong-art Thamnitha, spokesman of the followers, insisted that the embattled abbot is still sick at the temple and that he cannot be moved out to the hospital because of his sickness.

He also said that he has not been coordinated from the regional chief monk about the DSI’s approach toward the Sangha Council to help mediate the problem between the DSI and the temple.

The spokesman there are still many monks and followers in the compound of the temple to practice dhamma as usual and to provide moral support to Phra Dhammachayo.

He explained that the tight security at the temple was intended to prevent “third hand” elements from creating troubles.

So he's so sick he's so called followers are saying he can't travel a few Kms to a hospital to receive state of the art medical attention compared to what he'd be receiving at a place if worship ?

Shows how much they care about his well being.

As for the third hand is he referring to the authorities that seek to arrest him?

It's an embrassment for the Buddhist council and he should be defrocked.

The abbot's followers have WARNED the DSI not to make an arrest which is a blatant challenge to the rule of the law and the govt.

Speaking of the govt where are they ?

If fighting talk like this came from almost any other source they'd feel the full weight of the military for daring to speak like this but there again students don't have the clout of important Buddhists and their followers.

who might the 'third hand elements' be then, real Buddhist maybe? as opposed to this disgraceful money making cult.

It doesn't matter who it is here, political parties, Buddhist sects etc they all use the same phraseology of third hands, unseen hands, dark forces etc.

what would they do without them ?

Operation to arrest abbot may involve 2,000 officials

THE DEPARTMENT of Special Investigation (DSI) used a drone and a police chopper to survey routes in and around the Pathum Thani-based Dhammakaya Temple yesterday as part of a plan to arrest its controversial abbot Phra Dhammachayo, a DSI source said.
More than 2,200 police and |military personnel will be used to guard the temple's 15 entrances |during an arrest operation, the source said.
The source said investigators were analysing money transactions of the people who provided financial support to the temple to cover the cost of transport, meals, and around-the-clock security in order to propose impounding their assets.

"third hand", been some time since I have heard that, maybe the "men in black" too.

Say that's an idea. Ring up our favorite police captain and former DPM Chalerm. He can call up the men in black to go after the monk. After all he said he knows who they are.

Chalerm barely knows who *he* is, let alone the omnipresent and omniscient 'men in black', who nobody has ever seen and who in any other country would by now, be nothing but an urban legend.

Like the tooth fairy or Santa Claus.

''DSI announce that they will raid the temple complex at 19:38 on Monday 30th May. They say that they plan to use the west entrance and while linking arms and skipping will approach the main building. They also say that due to employment act stilulations all officers that have been guarding the east gate will be taking a meal break at that time'' :D

Just to what level does this need to degenerate to for the men at the top to take charge and lead ?

Maybe too busy out praying he does a runner and then the farce of ' bringing back no matter what ' can begin whereas n reality it will be all talk, again.

Careful. Issues get more confused by resistance to knowledge in this case and "nothing's ever a good idea until somebody else thinks of it". (Darwin)

I would guess activist monk Pra Buddha Isara who has issues with Dhammachayo:

"Protecting Dhammachayo means protecting a fake monk, not protecting Buddhism. Protecting Buddhism means getting rid of fake monks."

Albeit, some people might question whether Isara is a real Buddhist.

"rejection against their demand for the withdrawal of the arrest warrant." Boy, am I confused. blink.png

Don't need rocket science to understand this.(appeal against the Criminal Court’s rejection), (against their demand for the withdrawal of the arrest warrant.)

Are there any Thais that are "real" Buddhists?

This is all about control and influence, as well as power and money. Who might be be influencing then?

--------------------

Jatuporn backing wrong candidate
Controversial politician Jatuporn Promphan has warned of a big public protest if Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha does not put forward the name of Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamangalacharn (aka Somdet Chuang) as a candidate for supreme patriarch.
Somdet Chuang was a mentor to Phra Dhammachayo of the Wat Dhammakaya sect. He is seen as a big supporter of Phra Dhammachayo in all his unorthodox and controversial behaviour.
------------------------
Next Supreme Patriarch must be free of scandal, politics
Since Somdej Chuang is close to Phra Dhammachayo, who is closely linked to a certain political party, Thai Buddhism will likely become more and more politicised under his leadership. Hence, Somdej Chuang’s ascension to the post of Supreme Patriarch would likely do much to upset the country’s religious and political equilibrium.
------------------------
Threatening from Thai monks in European countries lead by Chao Khun Berlin against those who disagree with the appointment of Somdej Chuang

Millions of men and women who are real Buddhist but they are not the ones that you find at city temples trying to buy "instant karma". They are the ones you can find in most small towns, villages and moo bans all over Thailand outside of the big cities. The ones that donate time and effort, food and water and help to maintain the small temples and the forest temples.

The people who are up early in the mornings waiting for the monks on their alms rounds, the ones whose family car is a battered old pickup truck or a motorbike and not a 10m baht Mercedes Benz, that willingly give up time to take the monks around to ceremonies or even the markets and supermarkets.

You can find them in most places in Thailand though you might be hard pushed to see them in the big cities.
