Ceiling Insulation - Worth the cost?

For the last couple of weeks the ambient has been around 36 degrees and it is very difficult to keep that warm air out. I have implemented most of the main insulation methods but when I built the house I would have liked to have included double glazing but the budget did not stretch that far.

In a  high ambient it is virtually impossible to stop warm air from coming in through the doors and windows.

We have ceiling fans during the day and put the AC on in the evening to watch TV and in the bedroom at night.

I originally had foil backed insulation only in the roof but daytime heat was still unbearable.

now the temperature of the upstairs level has dropped considerably. cost me about 20k all up.

Rainy season will be useful to prove everyone that whirlybirds dont leak (fingers crossed)

Where did you get these from? 

 

I'm also keen on some for my roof.

The whirly bird bases are painted in reflective white, which is what many folk in Australia do to their entire roofs..  It drastically reduces upper level temperatures.

I don't know if this paint is available in Thailand, but I'm sure someone knows.

BTW:  some folk think the Whirly Birds are electrically powered, as they spin so fast.  Not so - it's the hot air from the roof cavity escaping.

Roof paint is available at most any paint store or home improvement center in Thailand. I've used TOA roof paint on concrete projects with good results. I've seen other brands of light color roof paint at many shops in Buriram.

I have a feeling that sola roof paint is not the same as standard roof paint:

The whirly bird roof fans should be available at any home improvement store,. Some seemed better  built than others. I viewed several roof fans at the architect expo in Bangkok in 2016.

It is, I used it. Available from all the usual places and every specialist paint shop.
