BANGKOK: -- Four top policemen including the boss of the Huay Kwang station have been transferred to clerical duties at Region 1 headquarters.

The news comes in the wake of the raid on the well known Nataree massage parlour in Rachada Phisek road that comes under the jurisdiction of the Huay Kwang station.

The move by Bangkok top brass comes after a list of recipients of tea money was found at the massage parlour during the raid reported Thairath.

A committee has been set up to look into all aspects of the running of Nataree including its relationship with the local force.

Both the station chief Kitipong Wisetsanguan and his deputy Satsak Chaiprasert were transferred for 30 days or until the committee has finished its work. Two other high ranking officers were also sent to HQ. A new man Chayut Marayat has been installed as station chief as the committee investigates.

The raid discovered that there were a number of underage girls offering sex among about 121 women working at Nataree. Police now believe that this number is much higher than first thought with as many as 18 foreigners working there, many of these being Burmese girls.

Nataree was originally raided after complaints from an international organization with offices in New Zealand and SE Asia called NVADER. It is an organization that fights sex trafficking and describes itself as a Christian and nongovernmental. Some of its members are retired Kiwi policemen.

The Nataree story seems to have taken a back seat to the Phuket boat accident which is being hushed up. Neither main English language newspapers have the story as a main item. Strange?

This kind of operation is owned and operated by well connected individuals (mafia call them what you will) who will be paying off very high ranking officials of numerous organizations who in turn would no doubt pass some of that along to appropiate decision makers in the Government at any one time. Everyone needs a slice of the cake.

The parts illustrated in the BP are just small fry local cops etc taking their cut.

You can be sure that the big money being paid does not get noted down in little black books, or leave bank trails from account to account.

A lot of short time visitors are always citing Nana etc openly selling sex as proof that RTP turns a blind eye to prostitution: the thing is these places are entertainment zones with strippers that will go back to your hotel if you desire. Now The Strip on Ratchada road is a totally different kettle of fish. It's blatantly selling sex on premises. Next time you're in BKK take a taxi drive up Ratchada and you'll realise why this ''bust'' is more ridiculous than the usual selecive enforcement that goes on in this cesspit/country

It appears that someone in a higher position might not have been getting their share. That is virtually the only time the little man cracks down. kiwi organisation involved. when i was in nz a few years ago i watched a documentary about some fellow kiwis who came over to pattaya to try to rescue some girls out of the bars. they had a car with the engine running out side a bar and offered the girls a fast escape. in the end they did not rescue any girls, the conclusion was that the girls did not seem to want to be rescued. what is the point of temporary closing this soapy? will be back open for business again in a week or 2.

I was rather disgusted when I went to the Amsterdam opposite the Grand Mercure and discovered not a clog, tulip or windmill in sight. When I asked about Anne Frank they thought it was some sort of inappropriate euphanism for an Agatha or Sherman. When oh when are the TAT going to deliver on their promise of quality service for quality tourists?

I'm not so sure about your view on this. You have to understand the "untouchables" mentality of it. These guys have been doing this for so long that surely they had no fear whatsoever of it coming back to bite them in the Arse. So there is a better than slim chance records were kept of all people paid off to let them operate as they pleased. The question is not if records were kept, but how high in the government or police are they willing to sacrifice to make a show that they are weeding these bad seeds out.

This whole thing is pathetic. They have ignored all the other parlours on the rest of the street that are doing the same thing to target this place, most likely because the owner has conflicting business interests with another gangster whose sponsors have manoeveured themselves into a position now have more clout with those currently in power than his. However, the response to the real human trafficking misery is to force Maj Gen Paween into exile, so he can't give evidence at the trial of powerful government officials involved in trafficking, thereby guaranteeing the failure of the prosecution. And who the hell are these hypocritical Kiwi bullsh*tters and what do they or their pathetic religious beliefs have to do with Thailand? There are plenty of happy ending massage parlours in New Zealand they could shut down before they come to Thailand. Meanwhile there are plenty of real criminals Thai police could be catching, including themselves.

done in other countries except in Thailand they they have to punch a time clock in another precinct while being investigated, whereas in other countries

they are sent home on full pay and do nothing for months or in some cases years. The problem here is that we all lose track of what happens to these guys later

(are they sacked, jailed or promoted???) and the media is useless at following any story up for posterity.
