Jonathan Fairfield
Over 30 students rushed to hospital after they fell sick from school milk KORAT:-- Over 30 primary students were rushed to two hospitals in Nakhon Ratchasima province this morning (Monday) after they had drunk school milk. Altogether 34 Prathom 4-6 students of Ban Nong Rangka school in Tambon Kok Kruad, Muang district fell sick from dizziness and vomiting shortly after they had drunk school milk following the flag-hoisting ritual. Twenty-seven of the students were rushed to Thepparat Nakhon Ratchasima hospital for first-aid treatment. But seven of them were hospitalized and kept under close watch by doctors because of their serious conditions. The other seven were taken to the mother’s and children’s hospital. Mr Charoen Srisanpang, director of the school, said that the school received the pasteurized milk from a farm of the Suranaree Technology University thanks to the support from the local administration organization. Some of the students said that the milk tasted bitter as if it was rotten and, shortly afterward, they vomited and felt dizzy. The remaining milk was recalled and taken back to the university for tests. Earlier on June 3, over 80 students of a school in Khon Kaen fell sick from vomiting and dizziness after they had drunk school milk. diddygq
It didn't state which school in Khon Kaen on June 3rd so I googled it and sure enough it was the school I worked for previously. In both cases it mentions where the milk was supplied from but I personally would never drink the milk after witnessing it sitting in the blazing heat for 7-8 hours. Even though this is a government school, it's a pure business from the head principal's view. The cost of ice to chill the milk adds up for 1k-2k students. He needs that money to pay for his Benz , massage parlor, gigs, etc.
