BUNG KAN:-- Nirut Khodamee, 36, looks miserable as he was pictured in front of a cargo he was paid to deliver from Bung Karn province in the north east of Thailand to Ayuthaya.

He was caught with more than 1000 kilos of compressed marijuana he had picked up from a boat on the Mekhong River.

Police had heard about a delivery from Laos and had laid in wait near the border before searching Nirut's Bangkok registered Isuzu pick-up.

They didn't need to search much - in 28 sacks was 1,101 kilos of weed, reported Channel 3.

Joining in the photo opportunity Thursday morning was Bung Kan governor Pongsak Preechawit.

Apparently it had taken ten men to unload the drugs from the fishing boat in Bung Khla district and transfer to the pick up.

Nirut told police he was paid 30,000 baht to drive to Ayuthaya and meet someone who would then take over.

The drugs have a street value of 22 million baht.

He's just the delivery guy......so unimportant......go after his boss!

<deleted>.........photo ops and crap is what they RTP seems to believe keeps their image positive.......!

10 men to unload the boat over a ton of grass and all on the back of an Isuzu pickup ! looks like a big load for the pickup but then again this is Thailand where loads dont mean anything

What a shame, legalise it and stop being so stupid.

They should think about all the tourists that it would bring to Thailand !

TAT would be smiling.

What a shame, legalise it and stop being so stupid.

..then the plastic bag manufacturers would be out of business.

Always catch the minnow instead of following the guy and cataching a whale or two

Well He should have been dealing meth then. According to the justice minister it is safer than weed.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

It depends on who you talk to. Some people think they are very important. I know some girls getting at least 1000 baht per load.

Maybe could use defense he just wanted to "return happiness to the Thai people". Give them something to smile about? Or at least giggle

The person/s who paid for the ganja must be really glum, especially if he/she/they borrowed money to pay the farmer!hit-the-fan.gif

years back when it was readily available Thailand was a nicer place.... now its hard to find I see glue sniffing zombies sitting round ...

go to surawong park in central korat...see the empty glue containers and the unwashed youngsters .ganja much nicer and better for them!

....where do these mountains of drugs come from....and go....???

...is this part of the ....'100% employment'.....???

Thailand needs to join the real world on weed, tax it and it will be just as good or even better for you than alcohol,

Street value of 22 mil...

In Laos cities and larger towns, that's worth about 440k, out in the sticks and villages about a 100k...

Nice mark up.

Actually, legalizing pot would increase the use of plastic bags.

Would rather see this off the prohibited drug list than Ya ba anyday.

Tourists would come in their droves

It's only a crime because there's a law to say so,

stop making stupid laws.

I think.....Importing and distributing that amount would need uniformed involvement to be possible.

But when has that ever been a reason for Thailand to change anything?

What kind of sentence is this delivery guy likely to get?

Why didn't he go for the old "I thought it was a rice delivery" defence? whistling.gif

What kind of sentence is this delivery guy likely to get?

the mark up is very tasty. What's he looking at sentence wise do you think?

..then the plastic bag manufacturers would be out of business.

i dont think you have properly thought that through.
