Dog’s Dinner for Cambodian Workers
Story by Albert Jack

PATTAYA: -- Just after midnight on June 20 the Banglamung Police received information on their 191 Hotline Number about animal abuse in the worker camp in M. 2 Takiantia, Banglamung. A patrol was sent to the location.

There sixty-seven year old Pornthip Pikulthong told them she was walking home, after buying food, and saw two men cutting up an animal. She thought it was a pig and so approached with an offer to buy some. The men refused and then waved her away. But she noticed the animal was a dog and hurried off to call the police.

The bib just have to show the non thai labor how much authority they have. For gods sake , who /where did they send the dead ,butchered dog? How are they going to determine what caused the dog to die?

The 67 year old lady should be home eating her late night snack, not calling police on a couple of non thai and the police should have escorted her home and left the men to their meal. Dang busy bodies in every village sticking their nose into something that does not amount to a hill of beans. (as the old farmer would say)

eating dog is a common place in some countries.

i have seen dog carcasses lying openly in the marketplace

to be purchased like any other merchandise.

Eat your own dog after it dies of some unknown illness??? Not the sort of thing that would cross my mind. But the smiles on their faces suggest they enjoyed their 'chow down'...

Yes think your right

Maybe the same type of person that kicks the soi dogs just because they are there.

How thai is that.

There are no stray dogs or cats in Cambodia...with all the mutts running around biting and harassing people...I say leave them alone!

Damn shame about that. Would soon sort out the soi dog problem if there was a baht to be made.

...mustn't say much for their wages....

Wages ?

They live on a bowl of rice and dog meat. Their just happy to stay alive in the land of smiles.

Although illegal, actually dog meat is not at all uncommon throughout Thailand. Here's just one of MANY articles. Just "Google" the subject...

Good for them no difference between a pig and a dog, accept the pig is more intelligent and does not bark all night.

Pigs are also cleaner and healthier than many of Pattaya's soi dogs...

But one way to reduce the Soi dog problem, I would not have reported them.
