License Blitz: part 2

Featured Replies

Many police blocking the road on both sides coming into town today checking licences.

200B fine for anyone without a Thai or international license.

Pay on the spot, about 30 people lined up.

It would be nice to think these periodic stops might lead to safer road conditions with people who do not have a license staying off the road or going off and learning enough to pass the test. Sadly I suspect those who get caught simply consider it bad luck and blame the police.

I find it a bit hard to understand how one the one hand people blame the police for doing their job yet OTOH they blame the police for not doing their job.

To me it is always easier to get your licence and carry it with you than not bother and whine if you get caught.

Lucky you!! They're having a half-off sale. Isn't the usual fine 400 baht? That's the going rate in my neck of the woods.

The police would have considered it bad luck if I had mowed several down before I could stop, they were right behind the blind corner coming into town.

Fortunately I wasn't too much over whatever the speed limit is. whistling.gif

But it has to be after a blind corner and with no turnouts or side roads to escape on, or they would never catch anyone.biggrin.png

Same goes for BKK there are spots that are not really visible and its dangerous if there is a check there. But of course the police does the checks there because they can catch more people. They don't even care about the risk.
