What's this 'non-conformist' and 'outsider' stuff still stapled to Trump's name?

He's conformist to the 10th degree.  Look at the clothes he wears: suit, white shirt and red tie (a Trump tie made in China, no less).  That's the most conformist attire available.   Look at the people he rubs shoulders with:  politicians (most of whom are corrupt and hard-right wingers), judges who he takes out to dinner the evening before a ruling (usually re; one of the nearly 4,000 cases of contractors suing him for non-payment).

He also hangs with mafia dons (ok, maybe that's non-conformist).  He even admits to paying bribes to important people right and left, and expecting favors for such payments.

Political non conformist I mean Boomer, not from the Establishment, not what he wears

Near the end of the debate, Hillary was able to slip in a mention of Miss Muchado, the Colombian woman who because Miss Universe.   Trump can't readily sue her (though he's surely contemplating it) because he didn't get a gag order on her.   He's already gotten thousands of gag orders on essentially everyone who he's ever done business with him (including ex-wives), because nearly all of them would talk shit about him if they were legally allowed to speak.    Ha ha ha, Mr. Trump.  Miss Muchado slipped by your gag order net.  It's good for the American people to see what a despicable man Trump really is (particularly those who don't already know).

Very disconcerting and insensitive. But I worry it gets politicized when turned into a Clinton party political ad.

You may worry, if you're a Trump fan.  But if you're more objective (or anti-Trump, as I am), you can see the above segment about Miss Universe as showing sides of who Trump really is.   Isn't that what this campaign and the debates are about?  ....showing American voters their choices.

The Miss U issue is going to resonate big time with voters.  It's a toss-up (in my view) over which of the following three issues will be the most defining moments of the debate:

>>>  Miss Universe snub

>>>  Trump admitting he never pays taxes, describing it as "smart"

>>>  Trump's gross and repeated interrupting of HRC and the moderator.

I only wish the other two candidates were up there on the debate stage.  Note:  The League of Women Voters used to oversee debates.  Then, a few years ago, the two major political parties wrested control away from LWV.   It's no secret why:  The two major parties wanted to keep the debates an exclusive club.

Except many people think you have it backwards.

Why would you care?

After all, you have claimed consistently and continually that you are not a Trump supporter, nor would you vote for him.

Must be a real quagmire you dwell in...

His bragging about paying no taxes is going to resonate among undecideds. That little revealing comment is potentially a game changer. Not so much the fact but the condescending attitude. Basically I'm Mr. Big and people that pay taxes are losers and suckers. Not what people look for in a president.

Doesn't everyone already know that? Another billionaire Leona Helmsley famously said, "only the little people pay taxes."

....and his audible comment in response, "I was smart."  The tax thing and the fact that he derided the beauty queen for gaining weight (a problem for 83% of Americans in trans-fat land) is going to bite Trump on his plump ass on election day.

....and from 7 yrs ago.  Republican shrills hope it has specs on the Raytheon anti-missile shield, but at most it has gossip on what color pantsuit HRC should wear when meeting with the governor of Mumbai.  Similar to the redneck hiding in his darkened 11' x 7' trailer hoping, until his dying days, that a thief tries to sneak in so he can blow his head off with a shotgun, Republicans are hoping upon hope that Russia or China or Iran will have some useful data from HRC's emails from nearly a decade ago. Ummm yea, that would be juicy.

One thing the talking heads haven't yet discussed is how terrible Trump would be if/when he started negotiating deals with foreign leaders.   From foreigners' perspective, it's human nature to want to say no to being bullied.  Trump first broadcasts how he will get the best deals for the US, so foreigners already know he's bragging before the deal is signed. Then Trump denigrates the same foreigners before (during and after) meeting them.

Even rednecks should know: no one likes to be bullied.

Imagine you had a nice antique car to sell at a yard sale. Several people wanted to buy it, but then a big brash orange-haired guy shows up in a helicopter and shouts to everyone on your lawn, "step aside folks.  I'm bigger and better than all of you, and plus I'm very very rich.  The seller is going to sell that car to me because he's a weakling and I'm the best deal maker ever."   Would you sell him the car?

Before Trump flew into Mexico City, he had been loudly denigrating Mexicans.  He acted halfway decent while in Mexico, but hours later he was back in the US bad-mouthing Mexicans.  Mexicans are now relishing an opportunity to stuff Trump down a deep dark hole in the desert with his Chinese-made tie stuffed in his mouth.

4chan, the notorious message board, has a long history of botting online competitions. In 2012, the pranksters employed JavaScript to vote for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Time’s annual Person of the Year poll and followed suit the next year with Miley Cyrus and Edward Snowden. 4chan also ensured a school for the deaf won a Taylor Swift concert. Likewise, a Twitter prankster helped send Pitbull to Kodiak, Alaska, as part of an online challenge by Walmart in 2012.

I think the idea is cutting taxes on Business to 15% to free up money for expansion thus job creation and to compete better globally. Over burdening businesses with higher taxes will not stimulate growth. But it always sounds good from the left, "paying their fair share"  "Cutting taxes for the rich" are old socialist maxims largely based on an emotional appeal to the  envy vote.

I would argue that the best and most prosperous times in US history were times with high taxes, resulting in massive numbers of good paying jobs. Check the tax rates in the 50s. Why would a private company give more money to their employees just because they are making more money? When they invest this newfound money, they invest it in something that will eliminate some employees, or they use it to fund a big move to a foreign country and can them all.  Thats what trickle down has done so far.

Well we don't live in the 50's any longer unfortunately. You seem to be saying that higher taxes creates masses of high paying jobs but I think you have  the formula the wrong way around. The 50's was a time of development of mass production and high profitability so higher wages meant higher taxes were affordable. Times have changed. Not only was profitability so good that it only needed 1 person in a family to work, nowadays it takes 2. That is because taxes are  higher without the prosperity. In fact the marginal/income/state/ payroll taxes of today is 37% compared to 25% of the 50's.

https://www.aei.org/publication/were-taxes-really-higher-in-the-1950s/

Actually good companies do profit sharing and invest in a company culture that is inclusive especially if they value their employees as integral part of their operation.I take your point about technology eliminating jobs but that is technological progress which makes products cheaper and unfortunately you can't live in the past when there's open competition or you'll end up a 3rd world country. What's the alternative? Tax companies higher so they can't grow into innovative industries to employ more or do we go back to doing everything manually to employ masses of people? Then what would be the cost of products? Prohibitive ,basically unaffordable and industries would die.

You can argue it but I don't think it stands up to scrutiny.

  • Contrary to what Republicans would have you believe, super-high tax rates on rich people do not appear to hurt the economy or make people lazy: During the 1950s and early 1960s, the top bracket income tax rate was over 90%--and the economy, middle-class, and stock market boomed.

There's more at the same link:

  • Super-low tax rates on rich people also appear to be correlated with unsustainable sugar highs in the economy--brief, enjoyable booms followed by protracted busts. They also appear to be correlated with very high inequality. (For example, see the 1920s and now).

You can't compare 2016 with the 50's and 60's See my post above.Anyway I am talking about COMPANY tax not personal tax. Higher taxes do not produce prosperity. They are the result of prosperity. More taxes equals government expansion which reduces economic growth by sucking in more wealth. Governments do not produce wealth just consume it. 100% government consumption equals communism.

No the alternative is Tax them at a rate that will allow the USA to rebuild itself, Place equal tariffs on all goods coming into the USA. Ban all US born companies from leaving the US by not allowing them to sell their products here if they leave. Also ban their being sold and moved by a foreign entity. I never wanted cheaper goods at the expense of my neighbors job. The Japanese and others have been selling their goods for much cheaper in the US than in the town they are made for many years, while they double the price of our goods with tariffs. Now our companies are moving to China to do the same. Giving them all the Trickle down tax breaks never slowed this process one bit. Yes I can live in the past if your "OPEN" competition includes using 10 year old kids in near slave conditions, with no safety precautions, no future, no injury compensations, etc. etc.  Stand proud when you buy that stuff.

Again I am talking about Company tax rates not rich people. I don't want to go there because it's emotional  to socialists  and involves the politics of envy. As far as I know Trump is talking about Company tax at 15% to stimulate growth

On average, those in the bottom 40% of the income spectrum end up getting money from the government. Meanwhile, the richest 20% of Americans, by far,pay the most in income taxes, forking over nearly 87% of all the income tax collected by Uncle Sam.Apr 18, 2016

Finally!!

You sound like Trumps ideas of a closed economy. It's not"my" OPEN competition, it's a fact of the world. I'm not making recommendations! Nobody's talking about exploitation within their own country and every country is responsible for their own.
