Gen Paiboon says arresting Dhammachayo without prosecutors’ greenlight is not worth the risk

BANGKOK: -- Justice Minister Paiboon Kumchaya believes Phra Dhammachayo is still in Wat Dhammakaya, keeping a low profile.

However, he said on Tuesday that once the public prosecutors agreed to proceed with the Department of Special Investigation’s decision to press charges against the monk to the court of law.

The prosecutors are due to make a decision on November 30 to proceed with the case to the court. Or to postpone its decision – the fourth time in a row – and to demand the DSI to come up with more evidences to back up their case against Dhammachayo who is facing charges of money laundering and receiving stolen property.

Or that maybe the man is too powerful and out of reach even for the big generals

and no one want to touch such a hot potato, as that might comes around to bite

them on the derriere one day....

They have been delaying it for so long, I wonder who he's connected to that let's him get away with these things.

For a while at least.

Paiboon is living in la-la land.

Dammanchayo has fled the temple already.

Arrest him without the green light :cheesy:

With or without the green light makes no difference as they are scared of arresting him, he is untouchable.

If decisions such as this are ' dangerous, risky ' etc just who will be brave enough to make them or in the interests of self-preservation and the national trait of not accepting responsibility does Pass The Parcel rule ?

You couldn't make it up. The justice minister won't allow the arrest as it is too risky. How spineless. Please grow a pair and do the job you are getting handsomely paid for. Or let someone else do it.

So they're too scared to make an arrest? Does this mean they're not actually the ones in control of this country?

Reminds me of the kid at school who says he can beat anyone in a fight. Then comes along a tough kid to confront them and they turn into quivering, brown nose mess. Until the tough kid leaves and it repeats again.

Risk?

What risk?

People who support them and support this monk and others like him will choose the monks over the junta if it comes to a Make Your Mind Up situation.

Next Up: the Red Bull Heir and why extraditing/arresting/prosecuting him is too dangerous/unacceptable/pointless...

Dream on. The Red Bull Heir is top tier untouchable. This guy is mid tier so they are still assessing the situation. Low tier your a goner.

Grow some and arrest his sorry butt

no one is above the law.

"no one is above the law" ?? Have you forgotten where you live?

Just about every day you can read in TVN about someone who is above the law.

Some Generals can be above the law because they can give themselves an amnesty whenever they feel like it.

Surely this joke has gone on long enough. The trouble is that it is NOT funny.   Thailand, once again, is making a complete ass of itself and not only in Thailand.

Talking of travesties of justice, whatever happened about the Phuket Land Officer who  err  err committed suicide in his cell?  Weren't we promised an outcome by now?  Another case perhaps, along with many others, where if they delay things long enough, they hope we will forget all about it?

unfortunately the law in Thailand doesnt apply to the rich or well connected, saving "face" is far more important than being tried/jailed for committing a crime. Only the poor or common folks are  arrested and jailed, justice isnt blind here, it simply doesnt happen to certain people. When the thai justice system actually does what it is supposed to we would see the amount of crime/corruption endemic in the country  drop drastically.

And what about the cops who blackmailed a japanese businessman who owns a nightclub? He went to another policestation and they helped him. The cops fled and i've never heard if they got arrested.
