Lampang unveils metered horse carriage to ensure fair charges

BANGKOK, 14th December 2016 (NNT) – The northern Lampang province has introduced a revamped horse carriage service, which has been designed to ensure tourists that they will not be over charged.

It is a new version of the well-known horse and carriage service, which now comes with a solar-powered meter, which is also equipped with USB slots for tourists to recharge their mobile phones.

The innovation is aimed at helping tourists know how much they are being charged while enjoying the ride.

The meter has been designed to charge riders both for idle time in the carriage and for the distance they are riding.

Mr. Sawat Moonpathee from the Lampang office of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said this week that the upgrade of the province’s famous horse and carriage service, which has been in operation for over 100 years and still attracts visitors to enjoy their time in the city after all this time, is intended to impress tourists, who will also be reassured by the guarantee of standards.

He said that two carriages have already had the meters installed, while more will be added after the test run proves successful.

This is certainly an innovation. Perhaps some far off day there could even be metered taxis around Bangkok Sukhumvit Soi 3/4/5/6/7 area.

Fantastic - what about putting some lights on, pretty scary to run up these in the dark as

they move very slow.

I hope the next 10,000 are just as much fun. Made me feel good to be considered in the Poster Of The Year contest but there are many more deserving than me. A real potpourri of posters.

Do they also have insurance for the passengers ?

You roll your dice, you take your chances.

If you're worried, get your own insurance, or don't get on the horse. We're not in Kansas anymore.
