I am sure they would if an official request

They wouldn't even ask to see a court order.

No biggie if you access the site through a VPN

Or stay well away from sensitive issues.

If the request was from a legal entity by means of a court order, Thai Visa would be obliged to supply this information.

A troll post has been removed.

VPN.. i say VPN. (i actually don't bother to use one for Thai-visa as I don't slag off Thais or Thailand too much)

I don't feel worried.. maybe you do. As I said I don't slag off Thais on each and every occasion. There are some members who should feel worried or just move to an other country.

im not worried i have the ability to move on, i was interested if TV would give out the info as thought they were based out of Singapore.

Even if TV is based in Singapore, i could imagine, if TV not cooperate, the authorities could ban TV withing Thailand.  I don't think TV would take this risk...

Most sites admit that if the crunch came to the crunch they would give up their subscribers details to an authority.

This includes revenge porn sites, porn sites, social media sites, on forums, blogs, and many other types of websites, including what we send via messaging and emails. Nothing is strictly anonymous online, including Skype, ID LIne, Whatsapp and similar and random video communication sites. Those who believe using a proxy or Tor browser shields their online identities are mistaken. It is true that our ISPs store data bases of all our online activities and will release these to the authorities if requested by a court.

What we communicate here on TV should be understood holds the same risks as how we conduct our activities on facebook, meaning whatever we post online can be taken and used as evidence against us. The mods try to protect us from ourselves and TV from committing what may be considered as defamation under Thailand`s strict laws, but the easy solution is; don`t get carried away with your opinions and think before you post.

Our online activities are all ready becoming legally accessible to government agencies. This headline regarding the UK was published today

Why would anyone expect any security from a free public site?

It's a business.

I wouldn't worry.

Most people on ThaiVisa think I am an old farang, when this is actually me...

I believe Tor is safe. But the Tor Browser alone is not enough. Better use the Tails Linux distribution. Emails encrypted by PGP. Snowden used that, Wikileaks too. That's all not very comfortable to use, but it is safe.

What do you think the authorities are interested in then?

I doubt that the average TV pundit is anywhere close to being 99% virtuous, especially the ones that like to 'debate' local politics.

The "authorities" are interested in money.

If you have no money, the authorities have no interest in you.
