webfact
Public voices skepticism about intentions of raid By ANAN WICHITPRACHA, PONGSATHAT RUJIPHUTTANYAPHAT THE NATION PATHUM THANI Under the close watch of officials, hundreds of Dhammakaya Temple followers take part in prayers outside the compound after being prevented from entering. Pathum Thani residents protest; social media flooded with cynicism BANGKOK: -- AS 300 crowd-control police officers camped outside Dhammakaya Temple’s Gate 7 yesterday morning, parents sending children to a nearby kindergarten complained that they had been initially blocked from reaching the school. The incident occurred as Department of Special Investigation (DSI) deputy chief Pol Major Suriya Singhakamon prepared to discuss an operation to arrest former abbot Phra Dhammachayo with the temple staff. The search later yesterday failed to apprehend the monk. A source reported that parents of Klong 3 Kindergarten pupils had complained that police had blocked their route to school, causing some parents to break into tears as they begged to be let past, complaining that children should not be affected by a matter that concerned adults. Access to the temple was also blocked, so monks returning from collecting alms could not re-enter the temple through Gate 5, but they were able to sneak in through a side door. Temple disciples, many of whom carried bags of clothes, were also denied access to the temple and were left praying outside. jerojero
Sneak in through a side door? So much for surrounding the entire temple.... Perhaps they should have had 5000 or 10000 troops.

mtls2005
Obviously this is about more than money-laundering, land-grabbing, embezzlement, theft and the 175 other charges the "authorities" have lodged against this sect, and it's leader. I think a lot of Thais see what's really going on? They need to break the back of the Dhammakaya now, as they do the red-shirts, by any and all means necessary to bring the Kingdom backwards to a "better" time. With a new Grand Patriarch from the "acceptable" sect ( Dhammayuttika Nikaya: yellowish/orange robes ) the bell was rung creating continued dominance over the Maha Nikaya (reddish/orange robes) sect. Re-establishing the "acceptable" triad may, or may not, be successful in the long run. Note that the masses are not included in that triad. Eric Loh
As one major newspaper correctly wrote that the court can still trial him in absentia like they did with Thaksin's land case. Why the strong arm tactics to use 44 and the need to invade the Wat and harass the monks and followers. Are they trying to wipe out the sect and take back the land? Motives are being questioned here. Dap
" but they were able to sneak in through a side door." Well, if "they" can sneak in, "they" can certainly sneak out. ... and how is it the media knows this but the authorities seem to be unaware. The circus continues.
