Hello everyone,

Renting a motorbike cost more than buying one in the long run. So I've decided to buy a motorbike, second hand, either Honda wave or dream.

I'm not %100 sure about the process. A friend told me that I need to check the green book, transfer ownership at the transfer office, make sure it's roadworthy, make sure the tax is up to date, and buy insurance. No need to go to an immigration office. Is this about right?

Close.

Unless you have a work or education permit, or yellow-book

you will need to go to immigration for Residency Certificate.

If you need a Thai drivers licence,

pick up a 2nd ResCert for that while there.

Most dealerships have staff who will handle a transfer for a modest fee.

Super convenient.

I recommend that.

I used to have a work permit. Now I'm on a tourist visa. I do have a 5 year Thai driving license though. Will this help? I plan to get another job, but not for another 2-3 months.

No, you still need the R.C. as papa wrote.

Easy enough to get.

I have a Thai id card and yellow house book, so I don't need it.

Can I get a R.C. on a tourist visa?

What's a yellow house book? I thought foreigners can't buy houses.

Is a Thai driving license a Thai ID card or did you get a Thai citizenship?
