April 8, 20178 yr Chrome had it's spells of slowing down, and was freezing up, and a sign always came up saying it is "unresponsive", this was happening everyday without fail for months, so I had to wait until Chrome decided to unfreeze. Enough was enough, so I changed to Opera, no more slowing down, and no more "unresponsive" signs, I have had Opera for a week now, what a difference. All I can say now is good riddance Chrome. Anyone else had this experience?
April 8, 20178 yr I had exactly the sames issues with Chrome and moved to Opera about 4 months ago. Performance and reliability much improved. I only go back to Chrome for online banking as Opera does not support Trusteer in addition. A few other sites dont support Opera but not many so far.
April 8, 20178 yr I'm a Chrome user and never had the issue.. My bet, it's a common cache issue. Just go into setting and clear the cache and you should be fine,,

Just go into setting and clear the cache and you should be fine,, Unfortunately not so easy. Tried all the housekeeping options and even a reinstall.. No joy. I think its just grown to a point of inefficiency - "Peter principle"?

April 8, 20178 yr Have you tried to update to the newest version? I'm using Google, never had such a problem. https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/beta.html
April 8, 20178 yr I have the same problem sometimes. What i do then is killing the Google process with Process Explorer or the task manager then start the Google browser and then you will get the question or you want to restore the tabs you were looking at. Click yes and everything is there again ...
April 8, 20178 yr You might have a look at your enabled extensions. Delete all you don't need and see what happens. And of course clear browsing data, cache, etc...
April 8, 20178 yr I had the same problem six months ago, uninstalled chrome and reinstalled, no problem since

April 8, 20178 yr I was having the same problems on my Win 10 desktop in recent months with both Chrome and Firefox. And I've been a Firefox user for decades thru multiple generations of Windows. Ended up giving Opera a try, and it's had none of the same freezing up problems I experienced with Chrome and Firefox. It seems to function pretty well as my main/replacement browser. The times when I need to use something else are rare. Exported my Firefox bookmarks to an .html file, and then loaded that file into Opera to keep/use all my original booksmarks. The extensions sets are somewhat different between Opera and Chrome or Firefox, but pretty much all the essentials I need and use are available in some form in Opera. One thing I particularly like about Opera, apart from it not freezing up as much, is its default ability to have your home page as a series of visual tiles that you can set to reflect your most commonly used websites. Almost like having a second bookmarks toolbar, apart from the regular text entries one that you can still see at the top of the browsing window.
April 8, 20178 yr Knock on wood (my head), but no problems with Chrome 64-bit on my two Lenovo Win 10 machines (one around 3 years old, other one around 2 years old) or Chrome 32-bit on my Toshiba Win 7 machine (around 10 years old). IE and Edge work fine also not that I use them that much....IE occasionally....Edge rarely.
April 8, 20178 yr I had the same problem and fixed it today. Unfortunately, doing that cleared my history so I can't tell you what I did! http://www.zdnet.com/article/7-steps-to-speed-up-google-chrome/ Back up your settings and reinstalling Chrome WILL fix the problem.

April 9, 20178 yr Author I have had so much problems over the years with Chrome I am just glad to see the back of them, I do not get all this slowing down with Opera as I do with Chrome.

What's more, from my own experience it's protection actually works. I do use a Malware detector and separate virus scanner also as Trusteer Endpoint Protection doesn't replace them.
