webfact
Or Tor Kor Market ranked fourth among world’s best fresh markets By The Nation BANGKOK: -- Bangkok’s Or Tor Kor Market, well-known for its premium fresh fruit, vegetables and foods, has been selected by CNN as one of the world’s 10 best fresh markets. CNN said the Or Tor Kor Market, which was ranked fourth, is packed with perfect produce and is full of exotic fruits and vegetables that are unique to Thailand, as well as imported specialties from around Asia. The Or Tor Kor Market, near the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, was also cited for being well lit, allowing buyers to easily shop for seafood, sweets and cooked foods. The market also offers a wide selection of prepared curry pastes and spices to take back home, and a food court filled with Thai specialties, CNN said. CNN selected La Boqueria Market in Barcelona, Spain, as the best fresh market, followed by Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, and Union Square Farmer’s Market in New York City. St Lawrence Market in Toronto, Canada was fifth; followed by Borough Market in London; Kreta Ayer Wet Market in Singapore; Lancaster Central Market in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, US; the Marché Provencal in Antibes, France; and Kowloon City Wet Market, Hong Kong. Pattaya28
Since when have CNN been food experts ? Nobody inform them of the additives ? Or is this another case of "fake news" ?
Prbkk
Idiotic findings. None of them comes close to Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne.

tominbkk
This particular one is pretty good. Clean, high quaintly food. Wish more Thai markets had the quality and hygiene of this one. Whether it's #4 in the world? Well, I don't know about that. I love Guadalajara's main market - enormous and so interesting.
KIWIBATCH
... and the level of residue pesticides in the 'premium fresh fruit and vegetables is'.....?
ExpatOilWorker
Most, if not all, the apples, broccoli and carrots are from China. Safe to eat, who knows? Meat is usually more expensive at these open markets than your local supermarket. Eggs are always a good deal however. HerbalEd
During my extensive international travels all over the world during the past 50 years I've always made sure to check out the local food markets. I must say that Or Tor Kor market is one of the best, most hygienic and well laid out markets I've ever experienced. Prices are a bit more than other markets, but not that much more so, and I'm happy to pay the difference for the better experience. One poster here mentioned the municipal market in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I agree that it is a great -- and huge -- market. I especially enjoy its medicinal herb section. fruitman
They mean #4times the normal thai price, this market is vely expensive and that's why they won't show the prices. Also the vendors are annoying and like to stand/sit in the walkway. Nobody speaks english there.

Probably none of them. Look at some of the mind-boggling dumb comments - CNN can't write about food, fake news, additives, chemicals (I would suggest actually reading up on the organic food business and what chemicals are allowed for them) It is a great market, but we cant have Thailand seen in a positive light, doesn't fit with the confirmation bias that a lot of these posters engage in. I agree with you most parts. But on the other hand over 50% of the "Organic" veggies and fruits do have over the limit chemicals. This news has been published almost yearly if I'm not mistaken with tests and samples taken from supermarkets. Due to the laws and fines in Thailand, growers continue to flaunt the law even if they have certifications and tests shown their produce fail the tests.
