Thailand seeks help from Interpol to locate Red Bull heir “Boss”

BANGKOK: -- Thai police now turn to the Interpol to help them locate the whereabout of Red Bull heir, Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya, after the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court issued him arrest warrant last week for hit-and-run and reckless driving causing death.

In addition, they are also asking the Foreign Ministry to scrap his passport.

This was revealed today by the Royal Thai Police’s foreign affairs division commander Pol Maj Gen Apichart Suribunya.

He said Thai police will ask Thai Interpol to help in locating his whereabout, and seeking the extradition if he is in the United Kingdom.

However if he could not be found in the UK, then Thailand will ask all Interpol police in 190 countries to locate and make arrest.

He said the arrest warrant has a 10-year life or until 2027.

Asked to comment whether the extradition is affected or not if the suspect has naturalised, he said naturalisation has no impact on the extradition because the crimes were committed before being naturalised.

It would be much simpler just to start hauling away their assets, homes, properties, Ferraris and other expensive cars etc and hold on to them until that punk boss comes back to face the music. Why - it's been done before so why not now?

Asking Interpol to find that punk just adds another layer of blame for the cops. "The Interpol did not help us! If Interpol could not find him, how do you expect us to find  him?" And then the statutes of limitations kicks in. End of story. Sorry for the cops family that dies. I guess you just have to suck it up.  Money is everything.

Police seek to revoke Vorayuth’s passport

Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya

BANGKOK: -- Police are taking steps to revoke the Thai passport of Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, the heir to the Red Bull fortune who is accused of running over and killing a police officer in 2012.

Royal Thai Police’s Foreign Affairs Division director Pol Maj-General Apichat Suriboonya said on Monday that the division also found an immigration record that Vorayuth left Thailand on April 25 for an unidentified country. An arrest warrant was issued for him last week after he failed to appear before prosecutors.

He said Thai police was waiting for a reply from their counterparts in the UK regarding Vorayuth’s whereabouts to help the Office of the Attorney-General seek his extradition.

Apichat said they would discuss the possible extradition of Vorayuth with Interpol officers in the UK this week and if he was not in the UK , a warrant will be issued across 190-member countries to locate him.

Deputy national police spokesman Pol Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen said police had also contacted all immigration checkpoints to look for Vorayuth.

He said he also asked Apichat’s division to contact Interpol and work with the Office of the Attorney-General to proceed with Vorayuth’s extradition and asked the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Department of Consular Affairs about steps to revoke his Thai passport.

He said that a disciplinary probe was ongoing against 10 policemen for malfeasance in office for their handling of Vorayuth’s case.

Having repeatedly ignored previous summonses, Vorayuth is yet to be charged for the hit-and-run death of police Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road in 2012.

He remains accused of reckless driving resulting in death, which has a 15-year statute of limitation, and refusing to stop to assist a victim, for which the statute ends in September. The first offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and the latter six months.

I suspect he was probably in Sochi for the weekend and is now en route to Barcelona where on May 14 he will be cheering for Ricciardo and Verstappen at the Spanish F1 GP. I am sure Sherlock Holmes could  have caught  up with him and had a coffee and lunch if he wanted. Red Bull certainly gave Boss a pair of wings.

It was a very simple task to revoke Thaksin' passport....and of course there are Thais living overseas, anti junta people, that have their passports revoked....

This guys family tho', is right up there amongst the elite.....maybe serious action against this punk could have repercussions for some of the clique....who knows.

Interesting saga just the same while not doing Thailand' reputation a whole lot of good.

So six days ago he was still in Thailand. This was the day when he should have appeared at court.

Probably got all his assets out of the jurisdiction of the Thai Government, and things like cars and houses transferred to the names of his maid and gardener...

Probably quite correct, but when dealing with a family with the mighty social connections and financial clout, like the Yoovidhyas, we all know they live in a different "galaxy".

It's about time!

Im British and hope that the British government, if the accused is in the U.K., extradite him back to Thailand to face trail. And that goes for any other government.

So also arrest the lawyer who lied in saying his client was overseas on business.

My guess is that they all knew he was there. His arrival surely did not go unnoticed by the authorities. He probably arrived at the airport, took the VIP way, passed immigration without waiting, had a car waiting for him right in front of the arrival gate, etc...

So he was in Bangkok until April 25.

Punk has reportedly been traveling freely in and out of the country for the past 5 years as he pleased and nobody ever even lifted one finger to bring him to justice. And if no ruckus had been raised in the social and international media recently, no arrest warrant would've been issued at all.

Shame on Thonglor police station, shame on the police department, shame on the state prosecution, shame on the immigration department. Shame, shame, shame!

And once again Thailand has done a wonderful job at tarnishing her oh so precious image. This country really doesn't need foreigners to drag her image into the mud. The local authorities are perfectly adept at accomplishing that all by themselves - over and over and over again.

Wait for it....Interpol releases a statement pointing out there has been no contact with them from Thailand !    Do they even know Interpol's phone number ?

If this Rat left Thailand on the day he was due in court, how come he was allowed to leave ?   You would have thought that his name would be flagged up at every Immigration desk in the land....also; if they know he left then his family must know where he was going, so bring them in and ask questions.   Not possible of course as the rich decide not to be responsible for their own actions, no matter how bad those actions may be.

This is Thailand. Even if they do get him back here, you watch the b@stard make bail and vanish again. Justice simply doesn't happen here.

He is gone. Likely set up shop in a country with no extradition treaty. The arrest warrants and Interpol BS is just to quell public opinion and put up a good show. If he does show his face again in Thailand, it may be under a new passport with a new name from a dodgy country and authorities will claim he flew under their radar. Or he may have the audacity to defiantly just come and go as he pleases as he has done over the past 5 years. The guy has been in and out of Thailand numerous occasions since the murder and was here the day he was supposed to hear the charges. It is all just PR on behalf of the authorities. The brown envelopes have already been spent. If this guy even goes to trial, the family I am sure will demand a refund. It was a done deal long ago.

Though, I hope I can eat my hat if he is put behind bars. Real ones. Not monkhood or community service.

Justice is often elusive even in countries where there is rule of law. In the Land of Slimes, justice is a whore that goes to the highest bidder.

Does this mean they have actually issued an international arrest warrant?

AFAIK Interpol don't act on a "please".

According to the BKK Post, (paraphrasing here) They're going to discuss extradition with British authorities in Thailand, and if they don't find him in the UK, they will request a Blue Notice from Interpol.  The Blue notice is just a request for help locating the guy, as opposed to a Red notice which is a request to arrest him.

Given the speed with which they've been proceeding, he may make the 15 years before they actually do anything definitive.

To date the Thai govt/police has supposedly only considered requesting a "Blue Notice"from Interpol.

Blue Notice
To collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a crime.

It requires a Red Notice to arrest someone if the govt every submits/meets the requirements to have a Red Notice issued.

Red Notice
To seek the location and arrest of wanted persons with a view to extradition or similar lawful action.

Link to types of Interpol notices.
