This has been going on for years, as long as there has been chat with cams on the internet.

 

The Philippines had a cottage industry  based on this, and yes, 'some' of the girls were trafficked.

 

(Maybe a small percentage)

 

 

This isn't limited to only Thailand. Fartbook is riddled with girls from many countries, offering this.
 
The article makes it look like it's a Thai problem but when a Thai girl sees other nations doing the same without punishment, it becomes easy for them to accept as a way of life. Just saying...

Why were teens taking this option and not doing regular jobs?

 

A) work all day for 300 baht

That´s the way to go here. Much money and no work included. Ever had a gardener, paid him in advance, and then went on a one month trip. All tools gone, no work done and no gardener when coming back.

The Thai in the article is focusing on the wrong problem. The real problem is that Fartbook does not ask for age verification in any legal way. Anybody can create a profile. How is anybody able to verify that the person is over 18? A 14 year old girl with full makeup can easily pass for 18. And it's not just Fartbook. Many video chat apps do not very the age of the users. Most new phone bought these days come pre-loaded with these apps.

 

When police agencies and Fartbook realize this, they will shut it down quickly. Last thing Fartbook wants is to be involved in pedophilia.

The only person being exploited is the frustrated punter. If I wanted to show my John Thomas on the net and somebody was willing to pay what's the harm ?

These girls are getting money, they are in a safe environment, they set the price and the scenario. If people are willing to pay them what's the issue ?

Now if vunerable girls were being forced into this and being kept against their will that would be a while different ballgame. 

Nothing wrong with free enterprise, especially when the alternative is 25 baht an hour in 7-11

it's ridiculous to call that "prostitution".
