Anyone having trouble with Google/YouTube/Blogger recently

Featured Replies

For over a week we've had difficulty reaching Google hosted sites such as YouTube, Blogger.com and Google. Usually they will connect after about 60 seconds or so of "Connecting to..." . This is happening on all devices in the house - Macs, iPhones, AppleTV, Mi Box. I keep hoping it'll improve, but still hasn't. Switching on the VPN or 3G (on mobile) and these sites load normally. Gmail is an exception, which is always connecting fine, and other non-google sites seem unaffected.

Using TOT fibre 200/50 in Chiang Mai.

I'm hoping it's not just me, I've tried all the usual - reset the router, changed DNS, called TOT, etc. and have run out of ideas.

Trace routes for - youtube.com blogger.com facebook.com

Should be healthy hops from TOT international directly into Google and same with Facebook.

I too am experiencing issues, so much so about an hour ago I posted the very same question.

Something is not quite right !....   roll on the conspiracy theories, single gateway etc...

I switched to Bing for searches because Google was taking forever YouTube is also a joke but YouTube has no real alternative.

No problems....on AIS Fibre in Bangkok.

We had issues with TOT late Sunday and again Monday morning, could connect to Thai websites but couldn't go anywhere else, just received a site not found DNS error. It was working again after lunch. The last couple of weeks my international connections have had intermittent slow downs, though generally we have good connections with TOT down here in Hat Yai.

For the tech savvy that's the first point to check.

If you do a

ping google.com

and get times that are significantly higher than 60 ms then something is wrong.

Probably a DNS "problem" that connects to a google datacenter outside of the region.

This 60 ms is in Hong Kong (as far as I know).

youtube.com is even closer for me, about 37 ms, Singapore?

Came to TV today to post a thread asking this, in the last 36hrs or so Ive been having problems with all Google related sites, Gmail, search, Youtube etc etc. Ive tried this on both AIS and TOT also, trace routes and pings dont show anything wrong.

No problems with AIS Fiber, 3BB Fiber, True Online Fiber, True Online DSL, and mobile: DTAC, TrueMove H, AIS - all in Bangkok and suburbs.

Sounds like a DNS issue but impossible to tell without more details.
