Goodbye burmese sweepers

The future arrived last week in Phuket. Saw it now twice in Kathu.

Good or a slowly ticking bomb on wheels?

Does not pick up leaves and other litter. Only gets dirt and diesel dust/grime if it's anything like the ones in America. Usually makes a grimy mess because it sprays water first then brushes over the grime smearing it all over the road.

It will break down next month and be parked in a gargae to gather dust forever.

Another purchase from the Chinese?

Minus a warranty, availability of parts and no maintenance budget, a typical purchase here.

But the picture is just a sample not actually from Phuket?

(HAKO, German brand with an Austrian license plate)

Such machines are in widespread use in Germany e.g.

I don't think that they necessarily spray water (maybe optional).

They work with brooms and a strong vacuum cleaner.

Would be nice to see an up-to-date picture from Phuket.

It's about two years that I saw a big sweeper (truck size) some European band in Udon Thani.

Was too surprised to take a pic.

I would prefer it if they stuck to the present system of manual cleaning.

And spend the money on beach cleaning equipment.

The ladies going down the roads can get between the cars and the kerbs (and they recycle a lot from the bins) which these things can't. I can't see them disappearing soon.
