Would be ATM robbers in Chiang Mai ran out of gas

CHIANG MAI: -- Hapless ATM robbers in Chiang Mai ran out of gas in their quest to bust open an SCB ATM.

 

Inside the machine at the food center in Mae Hia sub-district was 3 million baht.

 

But the gang got nothing after cutting open the surrounding structure but failing to penetrate the thick safe itself.

 

The cops think the robbers had been casing the joint since Saturday when bank employees filled up the machine.

 

But they are confident of an arrest - they said that 13 possible cameras in the area should give them a lead on who was responsible.

 

They think there are at least two robbers involved.

 

Siam Commercial bank ATM employee Athithan Thamyutisat, 45, agreed that it appeared the gang had run out of gas and fled the scene during the attempted robbery on Sunday night.

Reading this, it reminds me of a funny scene out of the movie 'Betelnut Beauty'  from 2001. 2 guys trying to open an ATM with a rope and a car, just pulling the bumper of the car.

Pity the picture does not give a closer look at the brand of the safe as it seems of a good quality!!!....I'd sure use one back home, refurbish it as a fridge to stock my Pepsi toppers for my Gentleman Jack!

There are wannabe criminal masterminds here,like the driver of a security

truck,filling up ATM's,the night before he has superglued the lock on the

first ATM,they were to restock,so while the other guards were trying to

get the ATM open ,he drove off, to his getaway vehicle,a Tuk Tuk, 

 

He could only get half the money on the TuK Tuk and had to leave the

rest behind,lack of forward planning !,he was soon caught at his mothers

house.

Hmmmm,....Looks to me that the Thais are better in killing a handicapped guy with five guys hacking with machetes than to plan something were you need brains for !!!

Another good story of the bad guys not being super bright. Good quality safe as well.

  Good ending for this story, money not in the hands of the bad guys.
